Thanks Ryan. If the trees were $20.00 plus $30.00 air freight, then the trees were $50.00 each landed in Colorado. Mike is a little closer to Florida, so his trees might be around $45.00 +- landed in Tulsa. - Millet |

I have a few seeds coming up too. The first is quite leggy, as an unprecedented hot spell accompanied by very low humidity and a week of high winds literally crisped the foliage of many of my more tender plants, forcing me to temporarily move my seedling citrus into a dark alcove. Even today at 5:00 pm it was 95 F and 18% humidity here in Redding. I guess I am now a member of Club Dekopan while I wait
Too bad for me that northern California nurseries are not carrying or perhaps do not have access to some of the newer choice varieties - Xie Shan, Ponkan, and Dekopan. |

CampoCalle I would think its just a matter of time before you can get your hands on those varieties you want. Until then, welcome brother to club Dekopan. |

All their (HArris)Shiranui's are on C-35 right now--
The Sugar Bell is on X-639 I think- will go out later and look @ my tags
They do budding to order for regular folks( not just the big companies) per request so they will let you custom order on your choice of understock if they grow it.
They are fantastic folks to deal with- you wont find any better I assure you.
BTW-- just came back from Wal-Mart and saw they had a half dozen for sale in 5 GAl Trade containers-- so you can pick them up at your local wall mart now |

Fred you bought a Sugar Belle from Harris?
Did you have to sign the plant owner's contract?
This from my post on this thread.

Harris has the Sugar Belle that a lot of us was drooling over however there is a contract that you have to sign with the plant rights owner (not Harris Citrus) that I have pretty much decided not to do. It was 17 pages long and gave exclusive rights to the owner plus you never truely own this tree. You are always controlled by them. Fifteen years from now they have a newer better product they can cancel the contract and demand you destroy the tree, no kidding! |
Have things changed and it is now available without restriction? _________________ Charles in Pensacola

I do not personally own one- but picked up a half dozen or so and delivered them to a friend down the road from me---- he is the one who signed the dooryard agreement-- only 2 pages long |

Seems that every several months a new citrus variety that is claimed to be the very sweetest cultivar yet comes on the market. If I keep purchasing a couple trees of the newest and sweetest, I will soon have to build another greenhouse. Also now that the trend is to cross variety after variety after variety with a blood orange so that their will be a red everything, soon there could be a need for a third greenhouse. Lucky, I personally don't much like blood colored citrus, even the original varieties like Moro, Tarocco and the others. The main problem is that greenhouse are really not that expensive to build, but the heat bill every month is. -Millet |

I hear what you're saying, Millet. For me, it's not the building of a greenhouse or the heating bill, but the water bill, as water here in S. California is exceedingly expensive. I would love to continue adding new cultivars, but eventually, I'll either have to do that, at the expense of another cultivar, or simply "admire from afar", lol! _________________ Patty S.

No-- nothing has changed
As to new things coming out- there should be several new things comming out within the next few years- A super duper tasting white GF(not a hybrid), 2 great tarty/sweet mandarins , one a bit smaller than a baseball and at least 2 good pumelos one was HUGE- they have it tenetivly labeled as "Monster"
A few things resistant to canker and hlb- and a GF that all the old guys can eat with out worring about their health-- I'm only 53 so I can eat them with no worries. |
