I'd like to taste it but there are still not known in Europe. No fruit in stores and no trees in nurseries. Perhaps soon ...

I finally had a chance to taste a Dekopan and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I was a bit worried after hearing several people here rate them as being too sweet but that was not the case here. The Dekopans I got last week down in Boulder were in no way too sweet but actually had a great clementine-like tartness to them. Unfortunately the batch of fruit they had on the stands at King Soopers was pretty awful looking. I know the fruit itself has a pebbely skin but about 90% of them were very bruised up and starting to shrivel. I wonder if this was just the end of that shipment of fruit or if this cultivar does not ship well or have a very long shelf life. That said I will absolutely be getting a Dekopan tree for my house, the fruit is indeed tasty! Also, I bought 4 fruits and so far no seeds in the first 3.

We had an unusual Dekopon fruit with 10 (!) seeds!
I would be glad to share them with fellow forum members (assuming that I can send them seeds legally - TX has quarantine for any parts of citrus). PM me if interested.

This year there was quite a but of tartness or what some would call balanced flavor. Last years crop was much more sweet and not as balanced.

I think there can be no question about whether the "Dekopan" is worthwhile tree for the hobby grower. It it without a doubt. There are somethings that are drawbacks like the high price per fruit and maybe a little over hype, but if you rate it simply on fruit quality, it is a fantastic cultivar. Its not my number one favorite citrus but, it is certainly top 5 in my book.
