Sigh... the weather is all except spring. Looks like we'll be getting quite a bit of rain in the next days.
Most of my citrus plants are still inside because outside it's just to cold to let them grow, and I don't want to lose the young fruitlets that are already present.
I did put some plants outside to create some room though. I made a cover with industrial wrapping foil over the pots to protect them from excess rain. There is still an opening around the trunk to allow some aeration...

Very nice tree Marc! Cling foil seems to be very effective in wet, drizzly weather conditions...
A low-end green house, or simple clear pvc tent would do an even better job in your case. |

Banner exaggerates highly, "Ultra super duper light rain" would be more correct. _________________

I'm a lurker here and thought I'd post my meiwa kumquat. Have had it a little over a year now. It survived the central tx winter with no protection losing only the older lower leaves. It didn't fruit last year but it just finished a flush and is now loaded with flower buds. Keeping fingers crossed. This is just after it flushed. No flower buds are visible.

Don't despair. The only two of my Mandared fruitlets also fell off. One of them, few weeks ago, completely by my fault. It got accidentally knocked off by watering can, due to my negligence. The another one literally got yellow before dropping off the tree. Have no idea what the culprit may be... |

I think that dropping of fruitlets is normal considering transport/aclimation shock. After all, the trees ended up in destination with very different climate conditions wrt their origin.
I wonder what other happy Mandared owners could report. _________________
