Thanks Joe.

What about gran nain, ice cream, orinoco, Dwarf Cavendish, raja puri?
And I guess dwarf Brazilian and California Gold are OK the leave them where they are? Sould I protect them of some sort?

protect Gran Nain, dwarf cavendish but not Orinoco, Raja Puri, Ice Cream. However, if these are still small, like less than 3 ft tall pseudostem height, protecting them will have a good headstart in spring. No need to protect CG and DB at all.

Meantime I'll just put them in pots and hopefully will survive this Winter. I am still trying to find the best medium for them to grow.

Benny,
I've been using same well draining medium as I use for my Citrus and Avocados.. I've read over and over that pot kept banana's suffer rot in winter due to poor soil and over watering.. I'd rather have to water more often in summer than have dead nanner in winter..
I had a Basjoo in pot last winter it was very healthy up until the day I let my son give it as a present.. The next owner drastically over watered it.. there were two ppl watering it with out checking IF it needed water.. I went to visit one day.. it looked very sad and I noticed the drip pan was over flowing and asked about it.. they said oops.. I haven't been back since.. I offered advice.. but am unsure if they took it.. Told son if he wants gift to butter up GF's mom he can leave my plants out of it.. LOL

I'm hoping that with plenty sun and warmish temps my CG will not go 100% dormant and will have a super jump start to next yr.. it is in the sunniest spot in the house.. and temps never get below 60*..
Plant room is organized now so I'll snap a few pics to post soon..

Lazz & anyone else interested,

The Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens, near Savannah, GA, will have their fall festival on October 27, They have a very large collection of bananas, and I understand they will sell pups then. Anyone interested might want to check further into this, but I am almost certain I was told they would have banana pups for sale.

Stan & I both plan to go as vendors.

Laaz,

Gina baby is in an unwritten contract with me. I gave her a CG for free, so she is required to give one for free, and then she's off the hook once she's given you a CG pup!

Then you would still be on my hook once you get a CG. You will have to give a CG pup for free to the first member who will contact you in this forum.

You see those small pups on the background? They were pups from other pups that gave pups to more pups.

Gina:
I am also using almost the same medium as my citrus with the added extra steer manure to the mixture. And I make sure that they are well draining with the added vermiculite.

Gina;
Look at the leaves of my Fuji apples. They are laden with spider mites.
Anynoe please confirm this.
I tried hosting them with powerful spreay of water but did not help.
I think I will use your formula Gina on this.

Spring is the best time Benny. Plants easily recover from stress. If they have damages or cut and it is getting colder, they would be vulnerable to rotting away.

Thanks a lot again Joe. You are indispensable to us.

Here's the Calif Gold that has fruit. When I came back from Yucca Valley absent for about 15 days here's what I found. And it grew fast ever since. But only one. 10 24 07

My Dwarf Cavendish is starting to pup-- there are 3 spears just breaking the ground. I will gladly trade for any other variety (other than raja puri which I have). It will probably be next spring before these pups are ready to cut.
