Ryan, Patty thanks for your comments. Margarita tastes good, too. Very Happy These are supposed to be mexican, caribbean, key limes (C. aurantifolia), although some of the fruits size is of a typical bearrs, persian lime (C. latifolia), while the rest is not. Laughing

Laaz,

This is the tree's first crop, and the fruit's still ripening, so I may have to wait a while before I find that out. I'll post some pics once I cut into the first one. However, I'm wondering, even if they turn out not to be seedless, it still doesn't mean that those are not (cross-pollinated) bearrs limes. As the cross-pollination may produce some seeds even in a seedless variety. Right?

Rarely you will get a seed in a Bearss lime. Mine will have a seed every once in a while, most times it is undeveloped. I don't think that Bearss flowers are very receptive to other pollen.

Yes indeed, you're right. I just found an article which states that they (C. latifolia) do not cross-pollinate readily...

It seems my curiosity was stronger than me this time. I wanted to know whether it was really a mexican lime or not. So I picked one of my unidentified limes, which seemingly turned out to be a bearss lime. Despite the fact I had my fingers crossed for it to be a mexican (thorny) lime.

Nevertheless, it was kind of pleasant surprise for me, as I was immediately hit by its pleasant aroma which completely resembled that of a common lime, just being literally seedless. As I mentioned, It was thoroughly seedless, deep green peel with a hint of lime blush, not so soft to the touch, although very very juicy. Having that characteristic strong fresh lime scent, much stronger than other "persian" limes available at grocery stores.

At the end, I shared a glass of lime-onade with my family... It was one particularly refreshing drink! Very Happy No corona this time... Laughing

Take care,
Igor

I know bearss limes are juicy, but not enough to fill a whole drinking glass! Wink Wink Wink Laughing

Laughing They are much larger than mexican / key limes. I have a thornless key lime tree if you need seeds. They will start fruiting in the second year from seed.

@Laaz - I have plenty of one year old key lime seedlings, anyway thanks for your offer! Laughing Notice the bunch of the key lime seedlings on the right side.

@Marc - It was diluted... But still juicy enough. Very Happy
