I was googling the internet for the AMOA8 citrus hybrid when I stumbled upon this Italian site where they mention some unusual citrus hybrids like this one, a cross between a meyer lemon and some blood orange...

...or an oval kumquat and a buddhas hand citron...

This is the site (in Italian):
http://www.freshplaza.it/news_detail.asp?id=41310

On the site, click the link above the picture to see the pictures of the hybrids.
I wonder if these are for sale...

I would be interested in how the cross was made. I have Meyer & a few different blood oranges. Question

Sorry if I come off as ignorant and over-simplistic , but isn't it a matter of cross-pollination between the two?

These crosses were made by the state-run citrus research centre in Acireale, Sicily. They usually licence new ornamental varieties for mass propagation by a few Italian nurseries.
I wonder whether the blood coloration will be difficult to achieve outside the favoured climate of Sicily - the home of the best blood oranges.

It would also be nice to know if they came true from seed.

I'm going to try some hybridizing this spring with different varieties.

Me, too. I'd love to have that variegated blood orange/lemon hybrid! Gorgeous. My blood oranges color up very nicely here in N. San Diego county.

If you want to repeat this cross, Meyer flowers should be castrated few days before the opening. It is shedding so much pollen that it is difficult to obtain hybrid progeny.
