Not sure these are really Abers, but very unique leaves & very rare. $50 + shipping each, 2 available. Grafted.

I suppose this is Varia, willow leaf orange. Very ornamental tree. Wink

Varia seem to be grouped as a Citrus sinensis, instead of aurantium. Is the above fruit and good Lazz? Is it sweet?

I never tried the fruit until last year as I always thought they were sour oranges. Yes the fruit are sweet. I got the original tree from someone in north FL back in 2003 I believe.

Laaz, do you know if this very rare and interesting variety will grow true from seed? I'd love to have this variety!

Hmm. I'd be willing to try from seed, but would be nice to try to graft this variety. Just have no idea where to find budwood here in California. Don't think I saw this on CCPP's lists.

It is also a good rootstock.

It make the plants stronger and the fruits bigger and sweeter.

I don't know if it is available in CA. Like I said I got this from someone in N. FL way back when I first started collecting citrus. I got it for the weird leaves & thought it was Abers.

I know, sigh. Not sure I can even track anyone down here in California that might have budwood. I know the CCPP has some Avana varieties available (Avana apireno mandarin and Avana tardivo di Ciaculli) that are in the Willowleaf familly, but their leaves look nothing at all like what you have.

Well I have some fruit on my in-ground tree & can send you some seeds when they are ripe.

Thanks, Laaz! I think Willowleaf mandarins are polyembryonic, so if your very unique variety originates from a Willowleaf line, then I have a chance. Thanks!

That willowleaf Line is from Turkey.

It was breeded in the Serail of Istanbul for the forbidden fruit of paradise ...

Sanguinello, can you provide some links to information about this variety? Preferably in English, but if not, let me know what language it's in, and I'll try Google Translator. Thanks!
