No. I have not rec'd anything yet. I saw that guy on ebay also. I bet he got them from uc davis when they did their other shipment. I think they ship out 2 times during the year (June & Dec?). Way too early for him to have roots even if he rec'd it June 1st. I'll be sure to post when I get them. Take care, Vinny

Didn't get mine either. Wonder if they'll send something to let us know when they'll ship!!!
Garnet, those sound kind of expensive. If I may ask...how big are they?
How much for shipping? I got 3 of mine on trade, & last spring I ordered 2 It. golden Honey trees $7.50 @ from Paradise & I ate a bunch of those figs last summer. I think Plantguy is right...this guy ordered & got free cuttings last Dec... rooted them & is selling them for what seems to be a lot. What kind(s) did you order?
Hope someone posts when you get the cuttings!

August...phooey. Thanks for letting us know!
By the time they start getting roots, my other trees will be going dormant. I'm thinking I'll have to keep them under grow lites all winter huh?

Patty, Your guess is as good as mine with the grow lights idea. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with them, I guess a heat mat? I'll have to pick one up.- Vinny

August, that's not good. Shipping across the country in August would seem to put the cuttings at risk of cooking. And my reading on the propagation of Ficus tells me that they are best propagated from dormant woody cuttings, as I recall.

It will be interesting to see how we do in rooting them. I can't imagine needing any bottom heat in August.

SB you are right...no need for heat mats in August. What a bad time to send out cuttings!! I heard they root best when dormant too, but I rooted a couple in spring & summer. Just pinch off top growth to give energy to roots.
I'll just root them in perlite mix on sill in sunroom (or outside) & keep them in there over winter to keep the roots going. Too bad we didn't order the winter (Dec) cuttings. They'd be rooted by now & ready to go dormant by Oct-Nov.
Vinny, I use a old heating pad on low/med as a heat mat..prolly less $$$.
You can get them cheap at walmart/ walgreens etc. (Sorry 'bout the Wallyworld Millet)

Hi all. I just rec'd a letter from UC saying that the summer cuttings will now be shipped out in Jan/ Feb 2007. I think that will work out better. It also gives me time to prepare (yeah right!). -Vinny

I just got same letter ---\"Fig order will be processed & shipped Jan/Feb 2007. If you have a 2006 summer cutting order for any of our other crops, they will be sent later this summer\".
I hope they realize it could be VERY COLD here Jan/Feb!!!

I am not a redheaded stepchild!

(I got a letter today finally! I adore redheads, so I dont mean any disrespect Razz )

so yeah. later in the year for the cuttings.

Since its sent express, I dont think there will be that big a risk- of course if you dont know what day its being sent, it may stay outside on the porch for a little while. Ill share cuttings of any of mine that make it Very Happy

Garnet, the "red headed stepchild" cracked me up Laughing Is that like the "milkman's kid"? LMAO
I will be glad to share also. In fact, this fall, I need to prune several - maybe all of the 8 trees (5 varieties) & will root them if anyon'e interested.
