@Lemandarangequatelo - Thanks Milto, I hope so, too!
May, 2nd: Mandared flower finally opens up... For those of you who aren't familiar, this is a follow up to my previous post...
The flower itself, has four relatively thick petals with distinctive oilglands on the outside...
Let's hope it develops into fruit.
Best,
Igor |

Flowers are tiny compared to the rest of the plant. On my plant the fruitlets are still present, but they haven't really grown yet... _________________ - Marc

Marc, I don't know what you consider small... it's an average sized orange blossom, a bit larger than that of a clementine, though.
It's 4cm (cca. 1.6") in diameter, roughly, since the ruler is a bit closer to the lens...

Ok, they are large!
Mine were underdeveloped and tiny... _________________ - Marc

Both of my kumquats seems to be putting out flower buds already. Although one of them somewhat less intensively, it seems they've been jump-started by the constant warm weather we've had these last couple of weeks. Last year both flowered at about the same time, near the end of June, start of July. They even bloomed and set fruit several (2-3) times until the end of September. Which is kind of normal for kumquats... Flowerbuds from today's photo and the ones I posted at the end of June, last year, are at more or less the same stage of development. I linked them for comparison.

May, 03rd 2013:
Should I be looking forward to an extra early crop of kumquats?
They seem to be almost two months ahead of the last year?
Best,
Igor |

Kumquat in its full bloom, the fragrance is simply amazing... I've still got my hopes up for an early kumquat crop.
Best,
Igor
P.S. I've decided to keep them sheltered from the strong winds which are quite common to the region where I live. Last year I lost an entire crop of my "Sanguineum Pernambuco" blood orange to the wind gusts. So I don't want to risk a chance of losing the developing fruitlets anymore. |

I've just spotted a doubled flower on my lunario and it looks pretty nice. Obviously some of the stamens got replaced by an extra set of petals. I saw this type of mutation on sour orange, C. aurantium varieties like e.g. Bouquetier de Nice earlier. But never on a lemon tree, at least not on this one, neither on couple of the other ones I have. It would be really interesting to see whether the developing fruit will have a secondary fruit inside or any other major difference, like it's the case with the mentioned Bouquetier de Nice. It'd be interesting, although it's less likely to happen...

Very nice!
About that double flower... maybe it will turn into a "navel lemon"! _________________ - Marc
