If you want to see one of the moths "in the real", during the 2nd flush, go outside at night with a flashlight and shake one of your trees. If they're there, you'll see tiny grey/white moths in your flashlight beam as they fly off of your tree. I also check for psyllids during the summer at night - they typically hang out on the undersides of the branches....

This quote from the above,

The entire life cycle of the insect takes 3 to 7 weeks to complete. Citrus leafminer develops best at temperatures between 70º to 85ºF and greater than 60% relative humidity...

That gives me something to guage my treatments.

I did a walk around today and almost everything is flushing or is starting to flush. Could be a great year.

Some of my citrus are also beginning to flush, so fertilizer will be going down on Sunday. They are so loud at night, even with all the windows closed, they can keep us up at night! Still, I really enjoy them. Fun to watch the tadpoles turn into little frogs. If I can figure out how to add an .mp3 file, or embed a player with the file, I'd share the recording. Pretty cool.

Very Happy

Can any of you collect two or three hundred tree frogs and send them this way. I also am in need of large quantities of geckos, lizards, small friendly snakes, praying mantis, dragon flies, birds that only eat harmful insects and will poop under the trees. I already have ants and a mole.

Well, problem with buying non-native ladybugs is they will simply fly away. Better to plant things that attract your own native, local ladybugs Smile And, by about the end of March, we're about ready to scoop up those Baja California Tree Frogs, and ship them off somewhere else! Rolling Eyes Enough sleepless nights, lol! We do enjoy them in the garden, and I usually get a few hanging out in my container citrus (they will turn themselves green to be more camouflaged, pretty cool.) Here is a photo of one of them, hanging out in my Ortanique tangor:

He's a little blurry, I just had my iPhone and was trying to snap him before he hopped away.

These are ours, and there are millions of them.

I love these little tree frogs. Here is a link about our very special Baja California Tree Frog. It is the frog that goes, "ribbet-ribbet". You'll hear them in movie tracks all the time, and what is so funny, is they are only indigenous to S. California and Baja California. Not found anywhere else. Their call has become synonymous for any frog in the movies.

Laaz, what is the name of your particular local frog??

Just green tree frog as far as I know. We also have brown ones, but they are not abundant.

Oh, I love the Anoles! I've never seen those. Here are our lizards. I'm not sure what they're called, I'll have to ask our resident expert at California Herps. He is awesome and knows all our resident reptiles. I have about a gazillion of these little guys in my garden, they are EVERYWHERE. The cat has a ball watching them scale our window screens:

We have a few other lizards, the real nasty one is the broadheaded skink, they will bite & not let go.
