How frost hardy is "very frost hardy"?
By the way... you shouldn't leave the water in the scale under the pots, citrus don't like that! _________________ - Marc |

They survived toscany winter outside. There can be -12 in winter.
Sanguinelo knows more. He bought one last year. It seems, that lemon grows very fast besides beeing frost hardy.
Thanks for the advice, i will remove the water. It is not good for its roots. _________________ i am in love with lemon |

I want to plant them in ground as soon as possible. Everrybody says i can not plant them in summer. Can i plant them in summer and water them every day, or is it not a good idea because of summer heat.
How does red ruby grapefruit deals with mediterannean climate, when planted in ground?
I have seen people growing white graprefruit on dalmatian coast, but never seen red one. Is it perhaps less cold hardy? maybe the red one is just hard to get. _________________ i am in love with lemon |

I plant trees throughout the summer, just keep them well watered & in patial shade if possible.
Ruby Red grapefruit needs a lot of heat to sweeten up. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

I could plant ruby in august during heat and those other two in october to avoid heat. The problem with red ruby in the future could be the climate, because heat only lasts until september. In october temperatures move around 20 celzius. _________________ i am in love with lemon |

No, I don't mean you have to plant it in the heat. What I meant was the fruit don't sweeten up if they don't get a lot of heat.
Ruby red come true from seed & in my climate only took 5 years from seed to start fruiting. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Ok. Thank you for advice. I was a bit confused with this ruby. I thought there is only one ruby, but this one is actually star ruby not red ruby.
I read about it a bit, it seems it is not a very popular sort. _________________ i am in love with lemon |

adriano you have very lovely bunch of trees. I was wondering why the new ones are so tied up? if it is very windy there they can be lightly tied up but to form a good sturdy trunk to hold fruit they need to sway in the wind a bit. My house grown trees get a fan (during winter) to simulate a breeze to firm up their trunks..
Now that I am in California and the new trees I've gotten are on a patio they are lightly tied to the railing just so they won't fall over when the wind picks up.

I tied them up in Wienna in purpose of transportation in car trunk. When crossed the border, i violated a couple of customs regulation, so they had to be hidden inside car trunk. _________________ i am in love with lemon |
