No, not tough at all. The flesh is just nice and firm, not soft like many mandarins.

that works then. i think ill go with a ponkan over a page, now to decide if i want a temple orange.

Seeing that you were already picking your Page's, I went and tried out mine last week. Not ready yet, still really sour. Mine normally start getting ready around Thanksgiving.
For the non Texans, my place is about 140 miles SW as a bird flys from MrTexas place.

Redster-the Pon Koa is a really good fruit for the gulf coast area. I personally like the taste of my Pon Koa over my satsumas.

Pon Koa is also a great mandarin, however it is so similar to Ponkan I wonder if they are one in the same. Both are loaded with fruit this year & both ripen early - mid Dec. I'll have to do a comparison this year. Juanita is another I believe is really a seedling of Ponkan.
