I'm looking for fresh seed from the California fan palm if anyone has some available. About 50-100 seeds. The CA fan palm resembles the Mexican fan palm but has a fatter trunk & doesn't grow as tall.

Thanks, Laaz

Hey Ned. I've always been into palms. When we went down to your house last weekend we saw quite a few nice saw palms on the side of the road out there on Hunting Island... I'll have to bring my shovel next time as they are inpossible to find in the nursery... BTW next time I come down I'm bringing a real big truck so I can steal those two huge Palmettos out next to your driveway Wink Laughing

Laaz is a palmaholic & citruholic.

Thanks for that link Ned. New plant zone chart is there. I tried watching Stan's tv appearance last Jan but, I don't have DSL so couldn't watch it then. I clicked on it thru your link & it will play thru RealPlayer but the dates of shows doesn't go back to Jan,--only Feb. Crying or Very sad

Patty, Jeff Stevens does a super job with the SPS site.

Todd, The big palms were dug up on a barrier island near here, where Faye, myself and the kids use to go in our boat, many moons ago. Actually, I thought I had dug one palm, and it turned out to be 9 little seedlings - most likely sprouting from a spot where a raccoon took a dump in the sand. (Palm berries are a big item in the raccons diet here.) I planted them, and now they are the large trees.

There are scads of seedlings in our yard, especially under the big palms. You can dig all you want, but I don't think you would want to tackle the big ones with a shovel, even if I was willing to give them up. It is a pretty though job just digging one that is 3 or 4' tall.

I am a past member (probably was Colorado's only member) of the Southeastern Palm Society (SPS). I did not renew my membership as I was just too far away to take part in any of the events. I did enjoy their publication, which is like a mini magizine. For people interested in Palm trees, Palm Canyon in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. has many hundreds of different Palm tree varieties planted all throughout the canyon walk. - Millet

Hey Ned I'm only joking. I can buy the Palmetto's any size for $125 each if I pick them up & plant them myself...

Ok now I need some nice Serenoa repens (Saw palms). We have thousands of Sabal minors but I can't locate any Saw Palmettoes. Maybe I'll have to take a drive back down to Ned's & dig some up out on the islands. Saw a few nice clusters of silvers out there as well... Wink
