Greetings Folk,

A newcomer to this great forum. Have read a lot of the threads as a non-member.
Back to the original topic: so I just happened to browsing, viewing citrus on the internet, and came across this one in particular I cannot identify.

Here's a picture: (Here's the link to the site: (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Borneo-Fruits-Indigenous-Sarawak-Citrus-Mikan-Orange-Sweet-Juicy-Red-Pulp-6-seed-/261114783278?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item3ccba7662e) or here

It appears to be some kind of heirloom orange. Very smooth-skinned. It sorta reminds me Italy's Mapo Tangelo (http://www.agrumicoltura.it/public/Img/95_Tangelo Mapo 50-27A-32.pdf), except it has red flesh pulp.

Very fascinating stuff.

Thank You.

There are suckers born every day. If you look at the photos, it is pretty obvious that the photo with the cut fruit has been enhanced. Look at the flesh color of the hand compared to the other photo.

And someone paid $30.13 for 6 seed? Shocked

Laughing Royal Regent, Singapore... Well he will be long gone before the trees ever produce fruit & people find out what a scammer he is.

Smile It's a pleasure to join your forum, and be in your company, Mr. Laaz.

Thank you for confirming what I had suspected. When you see the two pictures side-by-side, it becomes more apparent.

With that settled, would you say this is a Unshu Mikan ?

No problem & welcome to the forum. Just remember these off shore accounts have been scamming people for years.

Photoshop is a powerful tool...

Original photo:

My special variety, I will sell you seeds for $50 for 12 seeds. Laughing

My extremely rare pink flesh variety, but these are $100 for 12 seeds. Laughing Laughing Laughing

It's hard to tell, the Japanese have so many similar citrus varieties, and many are harvested while still green. Many mandarins will color up internally long before the peel starts to color up.

From what Laaz said, that's actually why its so rare, only one in 100 fruit will be the blueberry citrus. I hear these fruits have sold on Japanese open market for upwards of $2000, only the super elite can afford such prices. amazing! Laughing Laughing

Oh, boy. Poor citrusguy! I was the one who referred him to our forum, from the GardenWeb Citrus forum. I wanted him to "hear it from the experts", and boy did he! Citrusguy, we're just joshin' with you, but we frequently have these questions pop up on our forum. The, "too good to be true" Ebay listings. So, the guys are having a good time with you Very Happy Glad you got the straight goods, though. Better than wasting a chunk of change on seeds. Now, if you're truly looking for some unique citrus, be sure to check out our forum section for sales and trades. You'll see some very cool things available, and if you're in an area of the country that still allows for citrus to come in, you can get some very interesting and rare cultivars. This is a great forum for some very accurate, astute and scholarly information around citrus.
