Oh, boy. Poor citrusguy! I was the one who referred him to our forum, from the GardenWeb Citrus forum. I wanted him to "hear it from the experts", and boy did he! Citrusguy, we're just joshin' with you, but we frequently have these questions pop up on our forum. The, "too good to be true" Ebay listings. So, the guys are having a good time with you Very Happy Glad you got the straight goods, though. Better than wasting a chunk of change on seeds. Now, if you're truly looking for some unique citrus, be sure to check out our forum section for sales and trades. You'll see some very cool things available, and if you're in an area of the country that still allows for citrus to come in, you can get some very interesting and rare cultivars. This is a great forum for some very accurate, astute and scholarly information around citrus.

Hey there hoosierguilt! I'm really liking this forum, so much to read and see. Thank goodness I didn't get swindled...ha.

Oh good, Citrusguy! I see you have a good sense of humor. This forum really is THE place to go for very accurate and scholarly citrus information. Great bunch, and the forum is very well organized with tons of resources. Especially if you're interested in learning how to graft. Great photo tutorials of several different grafting techniques. I will be doing my first citrus grafting this spring, mainly using Laaz' photo tutorials, plus a class at UC Riverside. Great way to get varieties that I cannot find elsewhere.

Haa, sweet. What kind of citrus do you have? Gosh, The UC Riverside? You're lucky. Seen their site, and what a spectacle. Overwhelming information on citrus varieties, just staggers the mind. Been wanting to graft myself,, but need some actual practice.

Sure, my Improved Meyer lemon. I was mainly listing varieties that are my favorite to eat out of hand. I really like my Meyer lemon because it makes just the most delicious lemonade ever. And, it makes a great limoncello as well.

I'm very fortunate to have a little over an acre, and a perfect south slope for citrus (and avocados, papayas, mangos and guavas). I'm a California Rare Fruit Grower member, so we tend to "collect" a wee bit rk01_humba

Yea, that's real nice. Looking forward to your pix hoosier!

Apologies beforehand if it may seem I'm inadvertently advertising. Being in the learning stages...viewing different kinds of citrus you are not common to seeing...

Wondering whether not these citruses (Rota Mirana Islands) are found elsewhere, perhaps parts of Europe, North America, et al. maybe commercialized, nursery gardeneries

This site suggests that the variety "lalangha" is somehow part of Pomelo family (grandis species)...remotely looks like a pomelo...hmm

Citrus Lime (Lemon Kukuracha; heirloom)

Locally known as Lemon Kukuracha (we are unsure of the type of lime variety and its origin but it has been planted through generations), this lime citrus bears small green fruits with light yellowish flesh and juice; green fruits mature to yellow then orange with orange colored pulp and juice, and grows close to baseball size. Pick and use green fruits for stronger acidic juice, or mature yellow to orange fruits for lighter acidity. Young Lemon Kukuracha fruit gives off pleasant aroma and tastes great; great for use with all types of beverages and dish. One of our personal favorites of all locally grown limes.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

CITRUS LEMONADE

Known locally as "Lalangha" or "Lalanga", it is a citrus of the grandis variety and used locally for lemonade beverage. Fruit contains lots of juice and not as sour or bitter as similar varieties; fruit is approx. softball size and high in Vitamin C. So if one is seeking a citrus variety for lemonade, our tropical lemonade citrus ("Lalanga") is the best choice for lemonade beverage.

CITRUS LEMON CHEENA

A good tasting lemon used in a variety of local food dishes. With the Lemon Cheena fruit, peel off skin before squeezing / extracting lemon juice as skin emits a very bitter acidic juice.

An evergreen tree or shrub growing up to 20 ft. Does best in full sun, but tolerates partly sunny spots, and grows almost anywhere from sandy to clay soils, moist and dry areas, and bears lots of lemon fruit.

The tree looks like a kumquat as do the fruit on the tree. The cut fruit do not even look like the same variety... On the other links most look like pumelo or grapefruit. Try doing a google search & about the only thing that turns up are Ebay auctions. Laughing
