Ok, im a plant addict. whatever.
I got 3 really good looking small Mahoi naners from Ebay (daytonken). Ill pot them up and see how they grow. Im willing to trade off one of them for ....something.

strange citrus fruits or seedling?
Heirloom veggie seeds?
im full up of figs for now, and i dont think i need any more bananas.

Ive also got one spare OK looking tiny Nagami seedling (im pretty sure thats what it is, its 'quat leaved) ill throw in

Id really like a rooted Dragon fruit, if you know its self fertile. if not, ill buy a self fertile one when I get more space.....

Double (Mahoi)- Dwarf plant, 5' (1.5m) to 7' (2.1m) in height. A very rare and extremely unusual plant that produces two or more bunches of very tasty sweet bananas on the same plant. Excellent container plant. A must for serious collectors. A dwarf cavendish mutation. Mahoi means twins in Hawaii.
MMMMMM....
Now to come up with something I can trade you for one.. Patty already has dibs on first born... Wink
I could always graft you up a tree.. but my rootstock is a while away from being old enough.. I'd offer a persimmon seedling but they don't transfer very easy..
Hmm...
Let me think...
If you don't get any other offers I'll figure out something..
I have super dwarf banana but the fruit is not eatable.. would like something I can enjoy the fruits of my labor.. ya know?

Hi Garnet, I replied to your PM earlier. I still didn't get a chance to look up that variety, but Gina gave a good description. I would LOVE one.
I do have a red Thai (white pulp) 9 inch dragon fruit that has already rooted with a new 6" branch. Self fertile? I thought they were all the same...I think you have to pollinate but not sure. Also have a tiny yellow DF that broke off & is rooting. They sure grow FAST in summer! Did you read my PM?

Great Garnet! I'll make a list of what to pack for you. When will yours be ready to ship? You say in a month or so? How are your P Trifoliate doing? If not good, I can add that too.

oh thanks so much, my FDs are doing just fine
we found some P. Tris in the park near us and can find locally adapted fruit easy.

Im sad the Centennial seed didnt make it tho Razz

The Mahoi are OK now, but the guy is about 3 counties away. a month will let it put out a few more leaves and get a bit more stout, and wait till its a bit cooler!

oxoxox

(BabyBlue, you in?)

Oops, almost forgot, Ive got one rooting of thai lime too that should be ready when the Mahoi is. It sat there twiddling thumbs for months, and put out 3 leaves this week, woot!

Hey.. I was about to post to trade Eucalyptus 'Baby Blue'.. It is the kind the florist shops use in floral arrangements.. I read it is hardy to zone 7 possibly 6.. and makes great potted plant I loves to be pruned.. and can make a nice shrub.. The smell is very strong eucalyptus.. I have about a dozen 4" pots.. I am going to keep about 8 of them.. Going to try wintering them outside next year.. I want to get more growth on them before that though..
I plan to harvest mine and boil in water for humidity during winter.. Maybe even sell some of the harvested.. They are about 2-6" tall so far.. I tried to get a photo but I think camera needs new batteries the pics kept coming out fuzzy.. I should check the lens also..
Any way.. If this interests you let me know..
It will be a day or two before I give the "official" offer to others.. you and patty got first dibs though..

!

I planted centennial k twice & they all came up albino & died.
What do you mean "but the guy is 3 counties away"? You don't have them yet? You know, with bananas, one month can bring on a lot of growth & be more exp. to ship. Not to rush you - at all, but my IC banana were 2-3 inch seedlings couple months ago and are now 2 1/2 ft high w/ 1 inch trunk & still growing fast! Just a thought to save some postage on size & weight.
Gina, you have eucalypsus?? Shocked Hmmm, that would be nice & interesting to have!
You know, I really don't have any more room for plants, but lots to trade or sell. But I would love that dwarf banana & eucalypsus (Oh, to boil them in water & sniff)! I got a bay rooting for ya!

these are ultra tiny plantlets. 4 leaves i think

They look good, but they got a bit smooshed in transit. it was only in the mail 2 days, the guy lives really close to me.
its just SO hot still i dont want them to cook (Unless, when they grow up, you decide to steam fish in the leaves!)

Pine Island nursery has an AMAZING selection of Dragon Fruit- have you taken a look?

Yes Garnet, I posted that in the Dragon Fruit thread 2-3 months ago (in fruits & tropicals forum). At the bottom are the 2 that I have...Vietnamese Jaina & Yellow Dragon.
Keep those bananas in very well draining mix...I recently lost one I THINK from root rot. You could prolly start feeding at half doses...they are heavy feeders. I been useing tomato fert -18-18-21 as they like more potassium.

Garnet.. How about a night-blooming cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum)??

http://rfovell.bol.ucla.edu/23sept2003/23sept2003.html

I have a few extra rooted cutting.. the parent plant now resides at the local Museum!!!!
I have a few other plants but can't remember names for them Embarassed
Too bad you don't live closer that we could meet half way.. I have good sized Jade that needs a GOOD home.. Need any native persimmon fruit so you can plant seeds this fall and have a sapling to graft on to in a yr or two?? Mom gave me a bunch of sumac seeds but I'm not sure how well they will germinate... I read is one of those plants that germination is best if ingested by a bird first.. I tried to get my conure interested in it earlier.. but he wasn't interested at all.. Hmm.. wonder if the Baby Bird wants some?? Ohhh HE is getting blackish feathers!!! and in certain light the feathers look bluish!!!
Next thing on my list would be a cherry tree sapling.. Also a couple of black berry bush/vines..
Any thing strike your fancy?? I can go over to mom's and see what all she has extra around if not...
