It is still a month or so before I'll start trying some satsumas, but I was wondering if anyone else in the northern hemisphere is already harvesting (other than from your everbearing trees), or near to it - perhaps some of you you with a mature Kishu?
Here in N. Florida, we've had some hints of the coming autumn, but the noon-day sun reminds you it is late summer. Still, my thoughts drift forwards to this harvest this fall and winter...
I enjoyed an excellent Lakeland limequatade this week, but of course, that isn't so unusual for this time of year. |

I have a fair amount of citrus on the trees, especially the kumquats and key lime, but nothing ready to eat. Most of my trees are young so I expect better next year. _________________ 42 trees and growing as fast as I can clear palm scrub. |

My Xie Shan are starting to color. I'll try one this weekend. Again this year they are larger than I think they should be but are firm and not puffy at all. _________________ Charles in Pensacola

I tasted couple of split Navels... dry and tasteless, pretty much like Russia-bought China-born Honey pumello, according to my mom. |

My Xie Shans are turning yellow. We tried one on October 1, it was a bit sour. Also, some Navels start changing color. |

I picked a Daisy today--it is still a little tart but sweet enough to eat and help cure my need for a citrus fix--it was just barely turning from green to yellow.
The amazing thing about this variety is it will still be good (even better in Feb.) _________________ Skeet

Tried a Xie Shan and found it to be juicy but not to sweet definitely not sour though. Maybe in two more weeks! _________________ Charles in Pensacola

Been eating kishus about a week now, super good. I picked 2 Pages this week, they were completely colored with no seeds whatsoever. Last year, their first crop, they were full of seeds, anyone know whats going on with that? I thought a Page always had seeds, not that I'm complaining cause they tasted great. |
