				| Very nice, indeed! If I ever run out of space in my unheated bright room, I might consider building something like this. | |

				| The most important item inside a greenhouse is light. I would recommend painting everything, except the floor, white to reflect as much of the available light to the plants. - Millet | |

				| Quite a nice bit of work!

If plants are not too tall, I'd also think a shelf/table that gets the pots off the ground could be benificial. It would bring them up closer to the light and it would also get the pots off the ground where the coldest air will be falling to and exchanging heat with the ground. It would be simple enough to do an experiment with a small table and some thermometers put in pots left on the floor vs. pots left on the table.

I'm toying with the idea of someday building a greenhouse with grates in the floor that let the coldest air drop down the holes in below ground cinderblock "columns" that act like pipes sunk in the ground where it can exchange heat with the soil and the water table that is relatively close to the surface in that area. There would be a "pipe" roughly every square yard and the idea would be to try and keep the air exchanging with the roughly 50 degree F soil throughout the winter. I'll build a small prototype at some point to take measurements from before going too far with this. That and an insulated thermal mass north wall to act as a thermal flywheel. Probably just dreams until I finish paying for my kids college though | |
