First fruit 4 years from seed. These are very good eaten skin and all. About the size of a large grape. Very Impressed. I also have a seedling blood lime, but it has not taken off like this one, maybe another year or two.

The fruit looks to be true to type, identical to my grafted specimen. There is Calamondin x Microcitrus in the ancestry, but it seems to be more on the Calamondin/Fortunella side.

I am surprized that the fruit is growing so close to base of the tree since this is a seedling tree. The mature node count must be very low for this variety.

I immediately though the very same thing about the low position of the fruit on the tree as jrb. - Millet (1,03-)

There were blooms throughout the tree, but many more lower down. The top few branches are like water sprouts & really took off, but no blooms. I have already eaten about 20 fruit from the tree. Last time I talked to Joe (About 2 years ago) he told me he had some of these seedlings that produced fruit the first year. Have not talked to him since to confirm...

Not quite. They are actually pretty good. Millet had one when he was here this spring. The tree is now about 8 ft tall and loaded with fruit.

How cold hardy are these? Could they be an inground plant in 8b?
