bearrs lime, the traditional larger lime, doesn't have seeds, I think its like 1/1000 will have seeds.
Key limes, on the other hand are FULL of seeds. but I love their taste and think they are much better looking |

I assumed they were Key limes, because they are kind of round. The ticket just says 'limes, imported from Mexico'. They probably are Bearrs, though. Is it impossible to grow Bearrs from seedlings then? Or do you just have to be lucky to have one with seedlings? (I'm new to the citrus family, my mother and I are just working a bit in the garden and we have a babycitrustree which is beautiful).

Hi Skiwi. If you are lucky enough to find a seed in a Bearss Lime it will not grow true to type. |

OK, sounds like the key limes there don't have seeds for some reason. Can't figure it out cuz the key limes here have tons of seeds. I sent key lime seeds to Netherlands,..the guy said the same. Just ask someone here for seeds and they will gladly send you some!!! _________________ Patty

You are all so kind! Someone already offered to send me some, so... I hope I'll do it the right way so they'll grow, if not , I just might ask you to send me some anyway . But thanks so much. I took a picture of our limes at home, but I can't seem to upload it. When I figure it out, I'll post it here, so you guys have an idea of our limes.
Enjoy the beauty of the spring season,

Because the limes are imported from Mexico does not mean they are "Mexican (AKA Key limes)". Bearss limes can be quite round. If the limes you have do not contain seeds I would say they are Bearss limes. |

I get them at extra foods all the time, which is the sister store to superstore. they come in a mesh bag, about 15-20 limes (1 pound worth) They dont sell them in singles, just the bag |

I suspect the limes without seeds are actually Bearss (as Patty said, AKA tahiti or persian limes). Grocery store persons are given to label produce with the name that will be most likely to appeal to the customer. I am not sure about key limes, but most citrus seeds develope long before the fruit reaches maturity. |

careful what you wish for.... hehehehe. They'll grow. and grow and grow. I got 2-4 seedlings PER seed... and I planted all the seeds from the limes in the bags. Lewts just say I have like 40+ key lime seedlings now. and thats after I killed off several (on purpose) I took up the ones that were stunted or looking really deformed or... I just didn't like.... I had too many, just had to keep the best.
Good luck, you wont need it. they sprouted pretty good and quick for me |

key limes are about the size of a ping-pong ball, bearss limes are usually on the oblong side, and about the size of usual store lemons.... usually. Keys have always been noticeably smaller....
Ive got a key baby that is about 18 inches tall now. its AWESOME! good luck! |
