Great looking persimmon - not a blemish on the foliage!

Thanks Ned and to the two georgeous gals Ginababy and Ginnabug!
Ginabug:
Oh, THAT!
Those are Joe's wine barrels he used to ferment his Fuyo persimmon wines that I got for free. I always get a lot of freebes from Joe.
It licked I mean leaked so he gave it to me.
You ought to see the 6 bottles of Fuyo wines he gave me. Both me and my wife's pictures are on the label.
Now, I don't even want to open it. It has to be a very special occation before I will open one.

How does the fuyo compare with the jiro and izu persimmons?

Skeet:
It's too early to tell.
I am not familiar with Jiro and Izu persimmons. In fact the only pers that I know is Fuyo and hachiya. Hach is not my favorite but fuyo only.
I was successful grafting the jiro and izu but perhaps next year they will fruit.

I have tasted around 15 persimmon varieties. Most taste about the same. Saijo and Giombo are excellent. I've grafted a leader of saijo on my giombo tree. I've been eating giombo fruit for a few weeks, fabulous! My ichi ke kei jiros are starting to get ready. I have to put zip lock bags around the fruit as the birds would eat every one!

Nice apples Benny-- after a year in Japan, my son told me that what he would miss the most is the Fuji apples. We had never tasted them here, but after he told us about them we saw them in the store---they are the best apple!

That's great! I assume you are eating them soft ripe. Are Saijo and Giombo astringent when firm? Just for my own confirmation. Birds, rats, raccoons love the non-astringent types.

Benny, I have been harvesting persimmons since last week of August, and I am still harvesting now. There's more to come!

My apples ripen way ahead of yours. I have very little apples left.
