I have had Macintosh apples that were pretty good, I also like Arkansas Black, but what I like most about Fuji, is how well they keep. You almost never get one that is soft and pithy. A lot of the other varieties are good in the fall when they are fresh off the tree, but many of them loose flavor on storage. _________________ Skeet

Joe:
Luckily, we don't have roof rats or squirrels maybe because I have a diligent cat who keeps them at bay but we have those black birds that come in throngs and make lots of noise they are not entirely black but look like them black birds. I going to get my BB gun one of this days.
My cat sometimes leave carcasses of rats, birds and lizzzards, at my back door I guess for me to see that she is doing her job.
Those black birds only stay on top of the trees and don't stay too long.
Quiet smart.
I am glad I rescued this cat while I was working at the dessert. She and her sisters would have died in less than an hour because of the heat and they were only a few hours old.
But that was another story. |

Lately, my roof rat damage has been minimal due to our neighbor's cats who are staying every evening at our Bahay Kubo. Our dog, Snowflake, chases them away, so they only come to our yard when the dog is asleep. Now, I don't know what to do with those blue Jays. They are feasting on my remaining persimmons. One thing I don't like about the birds is that they peck here and peck there, and pretty soon every fruit is damaged. The roof rats are tidier, they go back to the same fruit they've eaten until its done before moving on to the next fruit, and that leaves me a ton of undamaged fruits. But the birds, no, I don't like the way they eat my fruits. I'm willing to share, but they should eat more efficiently and not waste my fruits by pecking on each one and not finishing anything. And our dog is a bird lover, and she just enjoys watching the birds feast on my fruits during the day. |

He-he.! Your dog must be a lover. Same as the owner.
No, my cat is different.
Yes, she observed the bird without blinking her eyes but from time to time I saw her licking her lips without blinking and staring at those birds unmoving.
I wonder what is she thinking.
Maybe dinner.
But my cat is a lover too.
She loves to kiss my toes at night and my wife's legs. Then she would cuddle and contented as long as her face is touching my toes.
And then at 4 am yeah, 4am, she would wake me up with her mewing until I get up and open the window for her to get out.
My wife said she might have a boyfriend out there waiting. |
