The fruit from a Meyer lemon and a improved Meyer lemon are exactly the same in looks, taste, color and every other category except the disease tristeza. As jrb wrote, both types are genetically identical. Because both types are genetically identical the taste of the fruit has to be exactly the same, due to the law of genetics. - Millet

Answering the original question, John I'm not sure... My ML froze to its roots its first winter, then spent the next season regrowing... got killed by freeze again next winter, regrew back. Of course, it was ok last "winter", flowered and has a few fruitlets now. So, we hope to taste our first fruits.

It has CLM, spider mites, and other ugly things that are bothering my other citruses but I would not say it is a special magnet for them. Just same as other. Very Happy

It cannot be identically, if it looks and tastes that different.

But Sanguinello, where do you get a ML that is not improved!???
I never saw that.

You mean it is coming directly from China?

All in europe are budwood from the original tree in Shanghai.

As Laaz wrote already:
Let the fruits get fully ripe and you will see that they get round and deep orange then.

BTW, Meyer imported this tree as rootstock, as he thought the taste and colours are not well enough for use as fruit and many decades it was really used as a rootstock in USA.

I doubt it.
And hope it is not true. I don't want to catch all the diseases one can find there. Laughing

This text shows that there are several European directives but no European citrus clone program.
Citrus clone programs and germplasm conservatories are all national.
You can find some in Spain, Italy and France (Corsica).

You find one in every citrus producing country in EU.

Above them are the EU regulations, who are an improved version of the US regulations.

All EU countries must follow these regulations.
