The difference between the south and the west is the bugs. |

I loved to eat corn grits whenever they are offered. Used to eat them when I was a kid and Philippines had a drastic shortage of rice at that time. I could have "kid" energy lasting the whole day after a morning meal of corn grits. |

Throw in a little flour and baking soda and you might have hush puppies. As for that parade - who has a parade with the floats parked in the church parking lot, only in the south would you call that a parade! |

Sunrise Cowboy, The parade is actually sponsored by the church.. The community where the parade takes place probably has no more than 500 people living in it. The Church, charges a 50 dollar entry fee to take part in the parade. All proceeds go to support needy families, missonaries etc. This year, there were 125 entries in the parade and following the parade was a Christmas concert in the church parking lot with the Lowcountry Brass furnishing part of the entertainment. Its a pretty big deal and of course, its about as Southern as it can get! Cactus had a blast and is planning on being there next year. You might consider hopping a jet and touring the citrus plantings while in the area! I might add, an estimated 5000 people showed up for this years event! _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

Isn't a parade suppose to move down the road? My father is from Vermont my mother is from Alabama and I grew up in DC. I have been up and down the east coast in a car and seen alot of apples and peaches and eaten my share of grits and hush puppies. I have never seen any citrus. That parade appears to be quite the event! |

My son went to college in Daytona Beach Florida at Embry Riddle University. I visited him there mostly on race week (Daytona 500). As for the amount of bugs ............ well I'll just leave it at that. |
