I'm excited here folks as I was very young when the Bears won the Super Bowl in 1985 and I have LITERALLY NEVER SEEN A QUALITY QUARTERBACK IN MY LIFETIME as a Bears fan (playing here in their prime). I think the Bears have gone through 30-some quarterbacks in the past 20 seasons? I'm glad to see ownership manned up and paid what it took to finally get a quality QB. Now let's hope he performs...
Any general football thoughts? There's got to be some fans on here. |

If your talking about the premadonna ( EX-Bronco #06) Jay Cutler, I wish you the best. Denver wound up with just so-so average Kyle Orton. Chicago got the best of this deal. However, know that Cutler is one of the league's biggest cry babies, just ask Brian Urlacher. Would Chicago also take Brandon Marshall off our hands? Brandon was Cutler's favorite target. He also thinks very highly of himself- Millet (1,258-) |

Millet I am leary of this whole situation because of the circumstance that led to us getting Cutler. I do not like a cry baby but am willing to give the guy a shot to prove himself. Orton is not a bad quarterback and was a locker room leader (everyone on the team loved him from what I understand) and somehow Denver always manages to turn any running back into one of the best in the league which should help take the load off him somewhat. Your team is always very well coached and will be better when you find a taker for Marshall (that guy just might be a lost cause and thanks for the offer, but no ). From what I understand of the situation management was thinking about not making him their franchise QB and he felt underappreciated? Millet I am sure you know more about the topic than I as I honestly have not read alot into it but know he left on bad terms. |

Millet it is looking a whole lot like Denver got themselves a deal with that trade afterall! Denver has only allowed 16 points all season I think and I read somewhere that Orton has something like a 135 passer rating in the fourth quarter which I believe is best in the NFL. I'm glad to see him doing well!

So far so good, HOWEVER, up to now Denver has played three of the leagues weaker teams (Oakland, Cleveland, & Cincinnati) . Most every one predicted us to win the first 3 games. The Broncos offense is just OK, but the defense has been tough. Today is Denver's first real challenge, they play Dallas. We will see if Denver is up to the task. I also hope Orton does well, especially for his sake, as most of the Denver fans were disappointed when Cutler was traded for Orton, and they even booed him in the pre-season. The sports pages were running" Orton Who?" type articles, and printing columns such as Orton's great in the locker room, but only average on the field. Sunday will speak loudly about the Broncos. - Millet (1,199-) |

Brancdo, at 4 and 0 the Broncos deserve some belief. The defense was awesome, holding Dallas. Orton and the offense could have been better, but certainly did what was needed to get the job done. I guess you can't ask more than that. Orton, was jumping up and down, running around hugging just about every player and coach, even Branden Marshall. Anyway it was an exciting game down to the ACTUAL last 1 second. I heard that Jay Cutler passed for over 200 yards, in Chicago's win. Now I hope Pittsburgh beats San Diego tonight on Sunday Night football.. - Millet (1,199-) |

Those Broncos are looking like a really good team!
The Bears game was wild to say the least. I just hope Hester, Knox and Peterson are alright as the team has already been hit pretty badly by injuries. It was nice to see them put 48 up but our defense should have played better. A win is a win though.
Glad to see the Packers go down tonight also! Minnesota will be our only real competition for taking the division.

Bret Favre was at his peak tonight. I was really pulling for Favre to beat his old team. I have never been much of a Green Bay fan. Favre was amazing tonight. Next week Denver plays the New England Patriots. New England will be the DEFINING TEST for Denver's talent. If I was to bet, I would have to put my money on NE, but that is why they play the game. - Millet (1,198-) |

That Denver, New England game is going to be one worth watching! With the way Denver's defense is playing they just might be able to take NE! I will surely be rooting for Denver in that one. Farve was pretty amazing last night (especially since Peterson wasn't really getting it done). The NFC North suddenly became a pretty tough division over the past season or so. Every team in the division has a franchise type quarterback at minimum and in the next couple of seasons the NFC North could be the toughest division in football.

There has mostly been NFL discussed so far but since this is a general football thread I figured I might throw this in there. Who will be watching the Alabama vs. Florida game? Who are ya'll pulling for? I hope Alabama takes this on home this year and not let Florida come back on them like what happened last year. No doubt who ever wins this game will be playing Texas for the National Championship because I don't see Nebraska beating Texas although I wish they would. Alabama, Texas, and Florida are by far and away the best three this year. |

Go Gators. It should be a great game. Sorry I just can't pull for the tide. Its a very fierce, unhealthy rivalry with Auburn and means way too much to many of us -me too. Tebow is the real deal ! Prattville got robbed by the officials last night in the state finals but it was a hard fought game... _________________ Tom in central Alabama |

Your right, that is going to be a great game but I just can't help but to think that Alabama just beat the number two team in the country last night. I think if Florida and Texas played each other, Florida would have beat them like a drum. That doesn't mean that Alabama is going to have it easy with Texas because like we all know, in college football, the best team doesn't always win and a good percentage of the time they don't (example: Last years Alabama loss to Utah in the bowl game) |

Hey Brancato, what a game last night! Every Packer fan was rooting for the Bears!! It was nice for us to see Farve get sacked 2 times in a row Farve is a good quarter back but now he is so cocky & arrogant. He's been arguing w/ his coach & cries when he doesn't get his way. ESPN showed a clip this a.m. of Farve looking all upset at the coach when he told him what the next play should be. Farve did it the coaches way & they scored a Tdown. Then he started making his own calls & they lost --ha ha.
Packer fans loved him here but it made his head too big. Right after he went to MN he said in interview that Vikings is the best team he ever played with... just to rub salt in the wound. I hope next time he gets sacked, his arms get broken.
Woohoo, when the Bears won we were screaming! _________________ Patty

That's hilarious Patty! That series in overtime where Farve got sacked a couple of times in a row was nothing short of fantastic. It just would have been nice if that game meant something... This has been an extremely disappointing season for Bears fans to say the least. Oh well, at least there's always next season.
