I grew the smooth-seeded one years ago and I don't remember any trouble getting it to germinate. I picked up the seeds (nuts) off the ground at Redlands Fruit and Spice Park, near Homestead, Florida, when I lived nearby. I'm sure I did no more than scarify the seed with a file and soak it for a day or so.

Mark Just told me there are Macadamian Nut trees In Mapleton Huge ones .
I think ill go and investigate with the camera .

If they are macadamian nuts ..
i have a few Questions for my researching what grows here .

Like
1 where did they come from .Had to be when the Early Traders could Come and boat up the River .
2 how old are they
3 are they still producing nuts or have they ever produced nuts.
and a few more ill be asking when i see them
I am not sure they are Macadamian right now but if so Expect pictures Tammy

I have grown quite a few successfully from seed.
There are 3 in my garden about 1.5 metres tall.

The key for propagating them is to use a sandy mix with course pebbles on a heatbed.
keep it moist all the time.
The warmth certainly assists the process. It can take anytime between 4 weeks or 3 months for the seeds to sprout.

When about 10 cm tall i repot to a bigger pot. Usually give them away to friends or at the school market day.

They have prickly leaves. I don't think that they will come true from seed but it is fun anyway to grow.
