This has nothing to do with who I'm voting for, I just think it's a cute email I got!
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Palin and her bid. The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a 'Post Turtle'". Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.
The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road & you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle". The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain.
"You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, and she doesn't know what to do while she's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummy put her up there to begin with". _________________ Patty

Why is it that so many people are against Sarah Palin? Even this, I think this joke is not appropriate. She's been the butt of the jokes in Hollywood and the media. The media are mean and cruel to her and they tried to make her look "dumb".
I am willing to bet that in 4 years from now she will be a formidable contender as the first woman president.
Why?, because only 5 weeks she's already been world- well- known and I believed that the majority of the people who watched her, liked her.(But not according to the CBS and CNN Polls). See the Fox news instead if you liked her.
She will be the one who will clean up Washington of corruptions.
This is what I believe. |

That's one good part about her Benny...she will clean up corruption. I heard lots of good things about her & her speaches from critics. She does much better at speaking than Busch does. He is so bad, it's embarrassing!
Dave Letterman makes fun of him all the time. _________________ Patty

Millet:
Thanks Millet. It's nice to know.
I think my kids will not be competing in the near future anymore because they don't have time anymore practicing karate because of their new find love in other activities.
About 2 years ago, they told me that they found another karate system that they like to try to learn. This system is much harder and combining other forms of self defense like boxing, ju jitsu and taekwondo. And it is also a full contact karate unlike the last one they had. They lost their black belt status but regained it at no time. Their knowledge of the old system combined with the new one helped them a lot so that they had won so many trophies, belts and medals and cash prices. They not only won the first place trophies but also grand championships. I have now a full room of trophies, belts, and medals in all sorts of forms and shapes. I now have a problem where to store them.
My eldest is now in 2nd year nursing and the second as senior in high school. Their talents were diverted now in academics. Even in their vacations they are taking college courses in nearby college and they are really well advanced in their studies and taking 6 hard subjects all at once like calculus, biology , chemistry etc... and they are excelling.
One of them just told me he aced the calculus test and in Spanish, aced it also and beat even the mexicans who took the test.
In sports, One of them are a member of the track team, basketball team and volleyball team and the Band, and two are girls volley ball referee (no boys team). They have so much activities in school so that they have no more time in Karate.
Their instructor (they are also instructors in karate class) asked them last week if they could participate in the upcoming tournament and he would pay the fees. I thought about it a lot and I told them no and to think it over because they were not conditioned to fight since they have not attended any karate sessions since the beginning of the school year. In the past I had witnessed how intense and hard they fought and their opponents were so tall, heavy , and strong. Sure they got hurt too but they hurt others too. It's a full contact karate. So I said unless they had practiced I can not let them.
It takes a long time for the body to get used to and they are not ready. |

If it's any consolation, this joke has been around for years and just about every politician's name has been inserted where Sarah Palin's name is. If you do a Goggle search for "Post Turtle", you'll see Obama, Bush, Palin, and and a number of others who turn up. There's no distinction when it comes to political humor.
Anyway, the personal attacks on Palin can be expected. If you can't beat her, smear her. It works! Unfortunately, Saturday Night Live is about the most intelligent thing that the average American views on the tube and can easily sway votes. That's why I get upset that the issues totally get lost at election time.
Speaking of intelligence, this article caught my eye yesterday:
Push to register felons to vote could aid Obama

The title of that articlle says it all:
"Push to register felons to vote could aid Obama "
But what concerns me the most is Obama's association with Ayers in the past who had said "I regret I did not do enough" to bomb Federal buildings and Obama's assertion that US military were bombing woman and children in Iraq. Is he the right person to vote for to be the Commander-in Chief" of our military?
I admit that I am a US Navy retired and I am biased.
I adopted this country as my own.
This country is good to me so that had I stayed in my old country I would probably be starving and worry what I would eat for tomorrow.
Here, I own 3 houses 2 of them all paid for and I don't ought anybody money and have very nice savings in the bank. |

When I was very young I witnessed the atrocities Japanese soldiers had done to the children, men, women, nuns and priests in WWII too gruesome to describe here.
If you want I can email you what they had done in detail I witnessed before my eyes to scare the villages so we don't side with the Americans.
And Bin Laden is the same way. He does not recognize children exception.
As long as they are Americans, they are targets. |

SN Live always did stunts about candidates to make people laugh. Seems to me they made more fun of Clinton & Busch. What I hate is FALSE stuff. I saw a photo of Sarah Palin wearing a US Flag swimsuit & holding a rifle. There was a guy in background holding a beer. It was a pic of her face on a different person!!
And, there was a rumor that Obama is a Muslim involved with terrorists. That is the stuff I hate.
Like Phillip said, it just happens to be Palin's name as the 'post turtle'.
Benny, congrats to you & your children for being so active - & in such a positive way! You steered them in the right direction. _________________ Patty

I concur. If you think about the real meaning behind America being the "Land of Opportunity", you have a nation that was built by people who wanted to work hard and better their lives, but were oppressed and never had the option to do so. This country imported the best from around the world.
I don't know if Benny is from the Philippines, but I can only imagine from what I've seen on the History Channel what conditions were like. The Bataan Death march is just one that comes to mind. Benny might think it's too gruesome to post, but sometimes I think part of our problem nowadays is we have rose colored glasses on and we forget how bad things could be and were. If we "really" knew the sacrifices that others have made, I think we would all be a little more appreciative of those who paved the way for what we have today and so freely take for granted.

Thank you Daubin for your understanding.
I lost my internet provider a couple of days ago so I won't be able to post until then. |

I've lost 2 uncles in the Bataan Death March, they served under the joint US-Philippine Army when Philippines was still under American Occupation. My father at that time was only 10 years old, too young to be enlisted, but managed to escape several times their city was raided by the Japanese during World War II. Philippines was granted full independence by Americans on July 4, 1946.
My father has died many years ago, unrelated to the war. Yes, we've had a lot of sacrifices too.
If I remember it right in one of the history classes, and in the clamor of Filipinos for self-rule, Philippine politicians stated that "It is better for the Philippines to be run like hell by the Filipinos than run like Heaven by the Americans!". And so Philippines was granted independence, lo and behold, very true to this day and henceforth, Philippines is truly being run like hell by corrupt Filipino politicians, from the very bottom of Baranggay Captain to the Presidency. |

I'm sorry to hear what your family had to endure Joe. I was fortunate that all of my family survived the war. My paternal grandfather was on a sub-chaser in the Atlantic escorting the big ships. My grand uncle was on New Caledonia in the south pacific. His brother (my maternal grandfather) had a number of football injuries as a kid that I believe kept him out of the war.
This website below is a good one I found that seemed to summarize the Japanese atrocities of WWII:
