Nice shot. What type of trees are they & how in the world do they get enough water to survive? _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

You can see a Morton citrange, approaching 20 years old and still waiting for first flowers. It is about 8' tall and trunk about 2" diameter.
Also visible are some lillys, a foxglove, and a pink variety of Diascia from a local nursery. It is particularly hardy and tall-growing, but has flopped after the incessant rains we are having this summer. |
Mike I'm surprised you don't have more of the hardier stuff in the ground. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

You asked for pictures from the front door!
There's more to be seen from the back door - where there's more space and its south-facing! |

Those are pollarded Black Locust trees (Robinia pseudoacacia). We have enough rain here ( ) to keep the soil moist, and there are holes in the stones aroud the trees that allow water to run thru. _________________ - Marc

But is there room for the trunk to expand as it grows? _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

There's still some room, but the trees are kept small so the trunk doesn't expand much. Besides, the whole street will be redone soon. My guess is the trees will be removed and (hopefully) replaced by other trees... _________________ - Marc

Another thing I notice about Europe, many of the streets are stone not paved. Looks very nice. Here all the roads are blacktop or concrete. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

That's usually only in old roads. It is very noisy when cars run over it. I can't sleep with open windows because of the noise... _________________ - Marc

Karoly your apples are that red already? Here apples are not usually ready until after the first frost. Well up north at least, I have not found any apples very good here in the south. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...
