Too cool Laaz! I remember how exciting it was when you first posted those. Thanks for showing again.
Is that a pup growing right next to it? You said they went up to the 2nd story LOL. Do you remember how big diameter it was? I know mine will be smaller.
Your pics are just fine. _________________ Patty

Yes there were quite a few pups. They got relocated to the back yard. They should fruit this summer. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

That's funny Sylvain! There is a light burned out now & Mike stares at it - while he lays on the couch LOL. We have to set up scaffolding to change it.
Thanks gang. Can't wait for summer! _________________ Patty

That looks like a very happy banana and you are really going to enjoy the taste. My ice cream fruited this year and the fruit did not mature before the cold weather stopped it in its tracks. I started sampling the immature fruit as it turned yellow and to my surprise the flavor was very good. ItÂ’s a keeper.

That's a lot of good exercise! And excellent job!
Pretty soon you'll be rewarded with bananas.
I used to grow 85 kinds of bananas in pots inside our garage until the wife got fed up with it, and so outside they went in one of those winter nights. The result is that I learned that 24 cultivars of bananas can make it out alive during the winter, are cold hardy at their pseudostem and can fruit in our zone. Our plans for sunroom got converted into real bedrooms. |

Say it isn't so Joe... Sunrooms are for plants, not beds! With 130 plants, I don't know what I'd do without my sunroom. Although, there was a time that I had a small bed in there when I refinished the floors.
Laaz, is the race on?!! _________________ Patty

The 9th leaf just unfurled to a skinny & half the length leaf. I thought it was the 'flag' leaf but they are more round. Someone said a smaller leaf can come out just before the flag leaf & then the flower! It is rootbound & needing to be inground badly. I really wish the flag & flower would wait till it gets a little bigger but I won't complain. It just won't be a big bunch of nannas.
I've seen bunches of nannas planted south inground with only about a dozen fingers so I won't get my hopes up. Better to get a flower now then in October!!
Fingers crossed that a flag is coming & not just a sick leaf.
I'll post pics of that leaf in next few days...gotta bring the camera.

Here is a pic of that funny leaf and the 10th leaf coming out. They are both small which tells me the pot is rootbound
Went to all nurseries around for larger pot w/ no luck - except for a 45 gal at $350.00. No thanks. I found Jackpots & SmartPots online...they are about the same. Made of fabric - like thick weed barrier stuff. I got 2 - 65 gal pots. They came folded in a small box. Got it set up on a piece of plywood in Mikes driveway (north side of house) thinking we could move it on a dolly. WRONG. It's 33" wide, 18" high.
We took plant out of 30 gal pot & 3 of us carried it out on dolly & stuck it in partially filled Smart pot. Filled soil mix in & watered. The tree is about 160 lbs & the pot must be 350 lbs!! Here it is w/ pup cut off & potted in old 30 gal pot.
That was last Sunday...it was very windy & plant caught some late afternoon direct sun.
I stuck bamboo sticks in pot & we tied it to inside garage for support.
The wind & little direct sun was too much. I tried covering with sheets but they blew off. The leaves started getting droopy.
This taken last Tuesday. Every leaf is now bent down.
Poor thing is going thru major transplant shock. Kind of embarrassing being in front of house. Ppl slow down to look at it LOL. Tonight there is a frost warning. Too big to move into garage so we covered it with sheets.
All I can do is hope it will live & eventually send a new leaf out.
If it survives & gets acclimated, we will leave it in pot & move it with skid loader to sunny yard. It went thru enough shock to transplant again. _________________ Patty
