Looking good Ryan! There's only one thing you're missing... Leafminers, I'll get a box of them in the mail to you first thing in the morning. Laughing

Seriously you're doing a great job.

LOL, I'll be waiting for that box with a flamethrower! Ive been battling spider mites like crazy though, haven't seen any leaf miners, they typically arrive a little later, but never enough to do any real damage. thanks

Fantastic! hate-eek

Could you do me a favor, please? Check your Ponkan for any thorns because recently I have bought a Ponkan and on the new twigs appears few huge thorns. I have the bad feeling that mine is not Ponkan. Crying or Very sad

Ponkan is pretty much thornless. You may find a small one here or there.

Now that's a hell of a great job Ryan! Won't you tell us the secret recipe for such an abundant crop? Shocked

Just keep it up,

I'm sorry Karoly, I have to echo Laaz, the Ponkan has only a few very small thorns if any at all. They also have smaller leaves and a more upright growth habit unlike a satsuma for example. Hopefully you could return it the the nursery and exchange for the true Ponkan.

Igor, I really feel it was the mild winter and the weather this year so far. Normally during winter my trees loose many leaves and come out looking stressed and not so good, this year they came out looking great bloomed strong held fruit and haven't looked back, thank you global warming! Laughing

Millet - Thanks, hope you all enjoy the pictures

Mine also has no thorns that are big

BUT

if this is a watersprout it will have huge thorns and will out grow everything else But the stem which should be triangulated will over a year or so become round and will bear true fruit. This is provided it is growing from above the graft union. I think the camp is divided as to remove them or not. I have left mine for now!

@RyanL - Thanks a lot mate! Smile It seems to have more upright grow habit, then my satsumas.

@Darkman - Thank you! Smile So could be a chance to be Ponkan! LOL
It looks these twigs are watersprout and are growing above the graft union. I will not remove them to see if new flush will have again thorns or not.

If there is any way you can post a picture of the stem, we could be 100% sure about it being a watersprout. You were saying that a cross section of the stem would be triangular instead of round. Is that correct?
