I fill a small plastic cup with soil and place it under a lamp or in the greenhouse. _________________ Okay, I don't need any more trees. Look! Another tree for sale!!! |

Okay, so what's the hint, I'm all ears. Anything to help improve my technique, which appears to be less than a 3rd grader's, sigh. _________________ Patty S.

Patty I don't think you'll get a answer... He has been sent to Millets compost pile. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Patty I always plant seed in a community pot. Once they get to about a foot tall I separate them.

Laaz, how large a pot, one gal? Do you keep the pot on a warming mat? Full sun, sunny window? Any rooting hormone in the water? _________________ Patty S.

Depends on how many seed you plant. The above photos are 30 gal containers.
No heat mats or anything else, just leave in a sunny location. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Thanks Laaz. We'll see how I do. Millet recommends taking off the seed cover. With this smaller amount of seeds I might do that. _________________ Patty S.

I have never tried that. I just soak the seed in clean water over night & plant them. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

I have been soaking them in water for 24 hours. Then I peel the outer coat and the brown coat. They germinate within two weeks that way. But thats just what works for me. I have tried other ways with little or no success. Never give up! Never surrender! _________________ Okay, I don't need any more trees. Look! Another tree for sale!!! |

I just recently tried a side by side test with some Poncirus seeds. With one batch I removed the outer seed coats, the other batch was just soaked in water. Using the plastic baggie/moist paper towel approach w/ a heating mat at ~90F 100% of the seeds with the seed coat removed sprouted within 7 days. Only 2 of 16 seeds in the other batch had sprouted after more than 2 weeks.
I would have tried planting some too... but my potting mix was frozen solid outside. |

Poncirus can sit for months & freeze. Every spring when I do my clean up I find fruit that dropped the previous fall. The seedlings all sprouting out of the fruit. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...
