yeah, very sad (although rather predicted) news...
I am not a big FB fan but I have an account. I will definitely join a group if it will be created. |

Do an internet search using the words 'create a forum' A lot of possibilities are presented.
Except for not having new members admitted Citrus Growers Forum should be able to continue. |

Sorry to hear Laaz is no longer around, and sorry to see you go Millet. You will both be missed. Thanks to both of you for making this forum so great.
I think it can carry on for a while longer. I'll be here to the end as well.
Haven't posted much recently because haven't had much to discuss. Will be attempting to make some hybrids again this year when my citrus start to flower, no signs of that yet though.
I hope everyone and their citrus are well |

The best to every one, and thanks for all that you all did for The Citrus Growers Forum. Good bye. -Millet |
I hope it is only temporary from Laaz, but if not, than I support the suggestion of Mr. Caldeira on this forum to create subforum on relatively fresh and very active forum
www.tropicalfruitforum.com
Maybe some US member like Millet should contac owner of that forum to arrange it, if possible. |

I have posted a message on The Tropical Fruit Forum asking them if they would consider adding a Citrus sub forum. I hope to soon post their answer. - Millet |

Seems like a good solution to me. I was going to begin looking into starting up a completely new citrus forum, but this looks like a better option for long-term stability. Thanks for putting in the effort, it is appreciated.
From the comments on the Tropical Fruit Forum, I believe they are open to the idea of adding a citrus sub-forum. |

isn`t it possible to start a new forum on forumup.org and save the old threads somehow and transfer them to the new forum? this would be a transfer inside forumup, at least the file system should be compatible.... |

I suggested facebook on the other forum before I found this thread. I created the group outdoor citrus tree growers on facebook, because theres already an indoor citrus tree growers group. Feel free to join both, we'll see how it goes..i figured its worth a try to do something. Ill be a part of all 3 options as much as I can be, for as long as they exist. Im sorry that laaz is losing interest in the forum but there are still ways to get through this. Millet cant be the only one willing to take on responsibility to keep this going. Im certainly willing to do what I can, and learn as I go. Once laaz comes back around, he needs to know we are here for him and the forum, and will support whatever action he decides is necessary for him. Hopefully including keeping this forum intact is a part of it.

I dont know if there is such a backlog of potential new members waiting to be validated? It may be so, but there seems to be some new members registered recently??
One major issue it seems to me, is that without being registered or logging in, you cant view pics or links in posts, and without that extra info, the original posts are often useless.
Also I took a look at some of my old posts recently, and the pics were no longer hosted, so no image in the post, message obsolete.
It may require some checking and editing of the past/early forum to determine what is still all there??
Also a lot of interesting info/ images is "hidden" in long posts and discussions.
It would be better if possible to save the whole forum as an archive, with all the links and pics available/open, something like offline browsing ?? I dont know how many Mb or Gb the whole site is ??
Anyone know how to determine this ?? |

pagnr. If you look on the list of members you will see names of many "new" members listed and the date that they registered to become members of this forum. However, for the last 3 months (or however long Laaz has abandoned this forum) not one single person has been activated. Therefore, not one single person in the last 3 months can post anything at all, nor see pictures nor links. My guess, with out actually counting them, this forum has lost approximately 60 to 80 potential members over that time. You have been a very knowledgeable, important active member, of this forum that has helped make this forum great. If you wish to be active, unless something changes, you can go to the Tropical Fruit forum's citrus board where many of our membership are posting. Thank you for all that you have done here, it was highly appreciated. - Millet. |

Yes Millet, the list of new registered members with 0 posts, so never activated is indeed now very long as you say. Thanks for the invite !! |

I maybe mistaken but when I looked there were some new registered with 2 or 4 posts with zeros all around them. Then I went back several pages and saw several registered but zero posts too. It would be interesting to count how many registered people have zero posts. I watched for a long time before I registered. Much better to be registered but there is lots of info here. I tried out the registration process again ( i am the new member nimbin ).
Registration is automatic, but activation requires further admin steps.
nimbin cannot log in or view the forum in all its details.
Tom you may be right that some new members only register and activate to view the internal forum and never post.
But the list of newbies with 0 posts is too long to be simply that. |

Pagnr, let me try saying this another way. I looked at the last page of membership. The last member listed is number 3234 and is listed as joining 4/19/14. Of course that person has no posts. Further up the list at number 3221 is a member listed as joining 1/25/14 and that person has 4 posts. Before that date there are numerous other members listed as having zero posts. So the way I look at it 13 people have joined but not been completely processed after member number 3221 on 1/25/14 because that member has had four posts. I have no idea how many of the zero posts all through our membership have not been completely processed. Maybe hundreds, for who knows how long or maybe not, but only 13 not processed since 1/25/14. Has anyone tried asking forumup.org whether someone else (in addition to Laaz) could be allowed to authorise new members? |
