I just called Feeney's and they confirmed they still have lemon & lime trees, 1-5 gal pots. I'm may make a trip up there but they unfortunately don't have anything I do not already have. I love lemons and limes but they are more of a garnish than a food.

Yeah, I was just there yesterday and though the selection has gone down, they still have three types of lemon and some Bearss seedless limes. They're healthy trees too, or in need of just a little tlc.

I don't know if you're interested in the banana trees Feeney's has, but if you are they're on clearance for 4 dollars. I think there are 3 different types there.

It's ashame we can't get citrus more readily around here, but then again it's probably a good thing too, or I would have more trees than I have room for.

That's interesting Laaz. So is Fla. still allowed to sell to tourists that will leave the state with the trees?

No citrus trees are allowed to leave FL for another state. But FL is really doing nothing to stop them from leaving...

No, Florida is not allowed to sell to tourist for out of state use, but Florida is doing as bad of a job as they possibly can in keeping the tourist from purchasing trees and taking them out of state. In fact they are doing such a rotten job of it, that I believe, Florida sellers don't give a darn what tourist do with the trees. Any one with an out of state license plate can stop at the road side stands and purchase a tree no questions asked. The motto must be "just make the sale" . - Millet (1,256-)

I drove through Fla. last year and they had no problem selling me a navel orange tree, and even made sure to tell me the trees are 2 for 40 if I wanted another one. Of course I didn't know then about the restriction (as I assume most tourists don't), otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

I wonder how Reed bros. is able to pass of their garbage rootstock trees to tourists then. Certainly you would think a high profile company like that with nicely boxed trees would draw criticism, at least more than a middleman side of the road dealer.

I really don't like bananas though the trees do look cool when they get big. I imagine they are even harder to care for in the east coast than citrus. If I can find someplace with a bunch of kumquat and sweet orange trees I am going to stock up.

I like them, the only problem is that I don't have enough room for a full sized tree. One day when I have either a conservatory or a greenhouse I plan to have at least one banana tree to go with my citrus trees.

The sweet orange and kumquat I have only seen once around here. If you want those you're most likely going to have to get them shipped from Four Winds Growers in Cali.
