I need some help from any Dutch members of this forum!
There are several websites describing an idea (?) or a plan (?) or an active construction (?) or maybe an April Fools Joke (?). If I understand it correctly, the idea seems to be to mark the northern limit of the ancient Roman Empire by planting Poncirus trifoliata at archeological sites.

Can anyone confirm what is happening here?

Did the Romans plant poncyrus as they expanded their ancient empire? Is there documented evidence of this? What would they use PT for? Interesting.

No they don`t. Poncirus was unknown in roman times. I guess it is all about the word lijm (dutch for limes, the roman border) and the word lime with the same pronounciation.
thats what it makes sound like a joke to me, but.... I understand it only rudimentary. Dutch is a bit like the dialect here but not fully....

This thread got me wondering...how long can a Poncirus trifoliata live? Any idea where the oldest known P.t. lives?
