Yes, some funny guys told me that ... go to your citrus meeting, get the most interesting fruits I want, eat them with seeds and transport the seeds in my belly to my country ...

Of course that would work !
Following the legend, the Forbidden Tree in paradise was a lemon tree and Eve transported the seeds that actual way outside of Paradise ...

Well, I wish all that efforts will help ...

but as far as I know a quarantaine never was successfully.

You cannot stop, the wind, the insects etc ...

Quarantine coupled with erradication could work and probably was working in Florida till a judge ruled it unconstitutional.

Now we will never know!

It is stopped now ?
That means I can get plants from there ?

Yes and No!

What I was referring to is the eradication procedure that was implemented.

There are a few state certified nurserys, just recently, that will be allowed to ship outside the state.

Maybe Roberto was thinking of American tourists?

I had thought the eradication program was primarily targeting canker; was there one for greening, as well? Some sources report that the (most recent) canker eradication efforts were halted primarily as a result of hurricanes that dispersed the disease widely enough that the program was seen as impractical by the USDA, which withdrew funding. Litigation at the time actually came out in favor of FDACS; it is only the more recent cases in which courts have found for the plaintiffs.

Despite their sometimes failures, the quarantines and eradication efforts seem to have their place, particularly when outbreaks are isolated. Citrus canker has been (at least nominally) eradicated in Florida twice before.

My posts were referring to Canker however that would be true for most problems. There are now several issues that require the laws we have. Also I will add that I believe that as an emergency cure the eradication was probably the best choice however many years later the laws need to be modified to protect the rights of the citizens of Florida.

You are right about the Feds withdrawal of their money and their reasons. My comment about their near success was reflective of 2003 when a court ruling temporarily stopped them. Would it have worked if they were not stopped? We'll never know. I would like to think if all the money that has been spent would have been directed at research to cure trees maybe we'd be way ahead.

Here is a very interesting read on the Canker eradication program. I have no idea if the facts are accuratedly presented.

well ...

politicians rule and they better have a big show to be able to say :
Look people, we do something !

Not to give money to research and really solve that problem, for that makes no good show and brings them no merrits ...

it seems the polititions are warped and now they are banning many dogs here in the Usa .
Im thinking if they run for office Screw up the state we should take away their retirement and Spay/Neuter them.

Its sad i hope someone will work on these issues i have a Friend in Norway that is a scientist and she has been working on some very important human diseases and said some of our health issues start with Plant issues . Kinda weird I did not see it until after she told me . Tammy

Well...

Genetic manipulated plants and animals.
Hormones given to animals, though everybody knows that hormones will also work in OUR bodies ...
Pesticides who work in our bodies like hiormones and chemical castrate or produce cancer ...
Wheat and corn fields that are 26 times poisoned till harvested.
Poisoned again when stored.
Then made to flour or grain ... poisoned again.
Made to bread or cornflakes ... poisoned again ...
Plastic that has chemicals to keep it soft and is highly poisonly ...
You will find all that poison in your blood, maybe then not wonder why allergies, hormonical problems and cancer explode ...

To eat something healthy is already an illusion, all we eat or drink is poisoned ...

Oh man, after reading this I feel sick, I don't feel like I wanna live any more... I'm about to throw up all the grain flakes I ate for breakfast. Laughing

That's the way we live. You simply overcome the fact that it is what it is, or you end up with hands crossed on your chest in a nice looking white long-sleeved shirt (aka straitjacket), behind the closed doors. The choice is yours.

I better work for a change ...

People must get what is REALLY important in life ...

Important is that you can life in peace and freedom
That you have to eat and to drink.
To life long and happy and free from pain and deseases.

All other is NOT important.

Money is just a foul trick.

Understanding this we can make a better world ...

I'm afraid it's just too little too late. That would be a long term project and one generation's awareness wouldn't be enough. A lot of hard work is to be done, in order to see even the slightest change. You and a few of those (us) thinking alike simply ain't enough to change the world. On the other hand, big players don't want to waste their time, nor money to invest into something they won't benefit.

Take care,
Igor
