Agreed! My Nippon is blooming right now and it reminds me of spring. I love the fragrance, Citrus are worth growing for just the flowers, the fruit is a bonus |

Absolutely! But I love the bonus also!
Living outside the citrus belt, it's just fun to show off homegrown citrus fruit! _________________ - Marc

Nice tree you have! Are you sure that's no cucumber?
Unfortunately it's not flowers that are growing on my plant, but "just" new growth. That's fine too of course, it means that the plant is doing great!
About the graft: the two pieces (rootstock and scion) did fix together, but the scion died nevertheless... So the graft failed... _________________ - Marc

Finger lime buds are turning into new growth...
Failed graft attempt:
I took off the second star ruby grapefruit yesterday to peel and eat it! ...
Color looks OK!
Taste was like grapefruit but not spectacular...

Agreed with Laaz. As for your finger lime - so pity those buds turned out to be a regular flush... |

Indeed, grapefruit is not the best citrus to grow here. The leaves don't look exceptionally healthy either. And the leaves of the grapefruit that I grew from seed look the same. Must be the climate...
Oranges grow much better here. I should concentrate on that kind of citrus (but that's what I'm doing already ).
I'm sure mandarins would do fine here also. Do you think a minneola tangelo would grow well here? _________________ - Marc

If it is at the top of that branch it's going to be very lopsided. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

No, it was over almost the whole length of the branch. I will make a picture of it later. The plant looks quite nice at the moment! _________________ - Marc

Nice photos, Marc. If you can find an Oroblanco or Melogold pummelo hybrid, you should get nice sweet, grapefruit-tasting fruit. My Rio Red grapefruits were good, but not spectacular. Hoping in 2 to 3 years they will be better. But, we are in "Oroblanco" territory here so close to the coast, and the Oroblanco and it's sister, the Melogold (which is actually a better fruit), are exceptionally good. _________________ Patty S.
