I would buy a fruit and try it before you buy a tree. I have one, I like the fruit, they are...different. They are acid-less, very sweet and insipid, its hard to describe, most people do not like them. Overall I probably would not recommend it. If you try them and like it then go for it! |

I would agree, I don't like them.
If you are looking for a pigmented orange try a Cara cara or Smith red valencia. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Some LOVE it - some HATE it ...
It is more a Vanilla smell, than a taste and it´s also in the blossoms.
It is an ancient speciality of Sicily and the pulp and juice is pink.
I love it ... |

Anyone know a good place to buy some of the fruit? The latest Logee's catalog had me starring and wondering about this one as well.
How good is the Sanguinelli? It's supposed to color up well in mild weather also. http://www.buyplantsonline.com/dwarf-blood-orange-tree.html |

You can get them in most supermarkets, but its way to early. Late Feb-Mar would be your best bet.
Cara caras are already colored up, but nowhere near ripe. You can find Cara cara in the supermarket also around Christmas. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Wow, I've never seen Vaniglia Sanguigno at my supermarket. Not even at Trader Joe's, Sprouts, Whole Foods, or Henry's. I might be able to find it at our farmer's market, but haven't ever seen one here in the supermarkets. I do have this in my orchard, but like Laaz, not so much a fan of insipid citrus. I also have a Persian Lime, and I use the fruits to chuck at ground squirrels over the fence in the orchard Haven't had the heart to chop the tree down. I need to give Millet a call and have him come over with his green and yellow tractor to pull it out (it's big).
Sanguinello, do you have this growing at your place? Post up some photos, would you? In fact, can't say I've ever seen any of your citrus! You must post up photos of all your lovely citrus trees for us to see!! _________________ Patty S.

Sanguinello, the fruits were not full-ripened. But if you will look at the foto again you can see a bit of the Pink color. |

Sanguinello, I have the Smith Red Valencia, but still rather small. I bought it from Four Winds, so it's on Cuban Shaddock, and growing more slowly than the rest of my trees which are mostly on C35/Carizzo. But, as soon as I get some fruit, I'll save you some seeds. Here is the little tree, it is in its second year, now, and still only about 2 1/2 feet (.75 meters) tall:
Sanguinello, post up your photos! I can't say as I've ever seen any of your citrus! I'll post up some photos of my citrus outside, if you post up some of yours? I'd love to see what you have growing, you talk about so many very cool varieties that we don't have access to, especially all those lovely Italian lemons! _________________ Patty S.
