Hi Darren, I had the priviledge of seeing your cactus in your greenhouse & your other plants in yard. All cool plants...I'd LOVE to see a pic of the one in flower now! Got any babies off of it? Laughing
The one in pic is about 4 inches diam. & is a 2-3 yr old baby off of mother . Mother made like 7 blooms 2 yrs ago & produced 3 babies (2 pictured). Mother died that winter..I think I over watered it, or it just pooped out from all the work! Dont't know what kind it is - maybe you could tell me? Bought it at H.D. about 3 yrs ago & all it said was "cactus", and it was about 1 1/2 inches diam.
There is another flower coming & another baby. Want the baby? - trade?
I fert in spring-summer rotating with Schultz cactus fert..2-7-7 & a liguid 10-15-10 (good for dragon fruit). What do you use?
Gina, thanks for all that interesting info! I just got learned again! Laughing

I'm in Durango I think i've been up La plata once I mostly hike around hogsback and a few time i've made my way to perins peak. Pretty tough for citrus here though HOt summers and cool winters at least in Farmington there's fairly constant weather. School gets canceled so easily for snow in NM even a light dusting( I remeber having to walk to school after a two hour delay for 11 inches!). Yea it is pretty tough to make a living here luckily my dad has a job where he was able to move here and work out of his office. However saving for college has been a bit tough. Yea it's nice to meet somewhere from around here.

Hi Patty,
Wish I could post a pic of the Stapelia and a smell-o-pic too! Laughing
I can send you a small cutting that I just got rooted not too long ago, They root fairly easy. Im or e-mail me your addy again, I know I had it around here somewhere.
No worries about trade.
As for the Fert. that I use, I alternate so greatly it would drive a normal person insane.....A HA, NOW I KNOW MY PROBLEM!!!! I basically use whatever I have made up....it might be Miracle Grow, it might be Acidic Miracle Grow, I use Blood Meal, Tomato Food, Blosom Booster.....I know this will probably drive the masses insane, but it works for me...as you can attest. I STILL wish I could of shown you guys around the yard and Greenhouse....I am certain you missed some of the high points of interest. Very Happy
Oh, and as for an ID.....I would be willing to go with a type of Echinopsis. There are SOOOOO many varieties, it would be hard to pinpoint the exact one. Do a Google for Echinopsis and you will see what I mean.
Later,
Darren

Thanks Darren, I did look it up (tried) & there are just too many varieties to pinpoint. I could send you the slightly smaller one next to one in pic with flower, instead of the baby. You should get flowers next yr. I will PM you with my addy. Laughing
Do you have any Dragon fruit?
