WEll, I did it. I jinxed myself. Today when I went to check on my tree, there were alot more them 2-3. There were maybe 15 of them AND to add further insult they were on all of my new growth flush ( a bare branch that decided to bear new leaves and new branches ). I was not so gentle this time about spraying them off. This time I used the jet stream (strong and forceful) , I was just so aggrevated, and only lost one leaf in the process. Well off they went and this time I watered my other plants and then went back to my tree and there they were, CLIMBING up the trunk, so swoosh off they went to bug never never land as I squished them with my fingers. It was easy since they were on a hard surface. I think that I will do it this way from now on. So now instead of doing the tree last, it will be done first, then I'll go back and see if I can squish some more.

Thanks

Hi Disney, seems when you just hose them off you should know they are going to come back as they have been. Squishing them is good or you could've sprayed with stuff mentioned earlier. Blasting the tree with water only works on certain pests .. like aphids etc. These things are just getting moved by the water & come back. Did you try some dish soap w/ water in a spray bottle? It's not a chemical if you are afraid of using chemicals. Maybe get some sticky fly paper to put around trunk? Anyway, the hosing off isn't killing them so maybe now you could do what you are doing if you don't want to buy the stuff mentioned--- squish those suckers!
Wait till the tree is loaded with em & put a rubber glove on & squish them one at a time!
Good thing Malcolm was able to identify them & know about them!

Oh, I knew they would come back but, not all of them, therefore it would take some time.

Yes, I am very thankful to him and everyone else for their input on all posts.

Yes, I have an adversion to chemicals. It would be only by no other choice would I use any. I do have to say, that considering there were HUNDREDS of these things on my tree, the water has been working pretty well.

I also have a fear (now don't laugh) of bugs, especially if they fly. If it is not a bird, a butterfly or man-made, I don't like it and furthermore if it is any type of bee what-so-ever, forget it I panic. So dealing with the different bugs that have been on my tree and my getting those egg sacks and hatching them is a mojor thing for me. I am a bit nervous about when my eggs hatch, but I will deal with that when it comes. I just may need to illicit my husbands help is all but, I will do MY best first.

I will try the squishing and see how tha goes for a couple of days and then maybe I'll try the dish soap and water (already have a bottle I keep at the kitchen sink of that, makes easy clean-up on the tables)

I will tell you that since moving to Florida (from Boston) I have seen many types of bugs I have never seen before and I am sure I will continue to.

Thanks

Well they started to hatch. Yesterday morning I found this.

This morning I found the one on the left starting to hatch.
Yeah, I'm soooo happy.

This is the whole happy bunch. I have already let a bunch out on the tree and various parts of the garden.

You can see sone beetles in the tank. I smooshed them with a hammer and put them upside down in the tank. They went after it.

Thanks
