Nice $5 experiment, you never know what kind of fruit it will bear, if pummelos are monoembryonic, are grapefruits polyembryonic? Laaz you have those ruby's from seed you must believe that it will come up true to parent? Those palms in the background look like Washingtonia, fast growers for sure. |

Yes, grapefruits are polyembryonic. Not a lot is monoembryonic, put pumellos are, and so are a few other cultivars, like the Kiyomi tangor (which is what was used to create the Dekopon/Shiranui mandarin, as well as other nice mandarins), Temple tangor, Imp. Meyer to some degree, kumquats, citrons, citron hybrids, Bearss Lime, Bergamot. There may be more, but those are the ones I can remember _________________ Patty S.

I'm sure you all know the various reasons why all commercial citrus are grafted instead of using seed as the source. Do you have any problems with your seed grown trees, disease, reduced vigor, reduced cold tolerance etc.? |

We should distinguish Commercial and Home grower,
Commercial grower can not deal with a tree on individual level, no chance, hence they i.e. Industry needs "uniformization", and treat them all the same way.
Homegrower can, and often does that, respect tree's Individuality, hence the fun, hence rewards...
My opinion talking about single tree, Commercial Tree can not compete with Homegrowers Tree. _________________
