Where I live in New Zealand the climate outside ranges from a low of 35F on a clear winters night to 75-80F on a clear midsummers day.
I found a Chandler Pomelo on flying dragon a couple of years ago and after reading somewhere that pomelo will not sweeten in NZ I planted it in a 30 gallon container in my glasshouse which hits over a 110F summer to a low of 44F winter.
This year it produced 6 good sized fruit which have over the last month (winter) colored up to rich yellow. The skin feels slightly soft and one which fell off when I touched it has been on the kitchen bench for a couple of weeks.
Any thoughts of growing pomelo in this climate.
How long do I leave them to ripen and how will I know when they are?
