I prefer granular slow release fertilizer because there is less risk in damaging the roots and nitrogen is released more slowly and longer lasting. |

I use both Osmocote slow release fertilizer, and regular water soluble fertilizers. Using both in a nutritional program, eliminates the feast and famine approach to fertilizing, that can happen when only water soluble fertilizers are used. - Millet (991-) |

I was using only water soluble but it's just getting so darned time consuming for my 100 container trees (not all citrus). I recently applied Dynamite 18-6-12 (and some 18-6-8 when ran out) to nearly all my citrus trees. Hoping to only do WS ferts like once a month during growth season.
On the same topic, Millet -- what ratio and frequency are you using the Peters 25-5-15 in conjunction with which Osmocote? |

On almost the same not , I apply some Spinozad to control leaf mineres. Would it be good to mix in some foliar fertilizer with the pestecide? And if so which foliar would be good? _________________ South Texas gardener |

c4f,
Which Dynamite is 18-6-12?
From what I have dug around, the Dynamite is repackaged Nutricote CRF formulas.
These seem promising, as the formulas also include minors.

C4F, sorry for taking so long to answer your question. I was in Washington DC over the weekend, from May 6 until the 9th. I'm always glad to get out of that city, even though I stay far away from all the tourist sites, DC is always a crowded mess. To answer your question, along with the slow release fertilizer, I apply 25-5-15 at the rate of 250 PPM N. Form a month before expected bloom to a month after fruit set, I fertilize every time I water the container. Then for the rest of the summer I fertilize every other time I water. During the winter, I fertilize every other time I water, because the tree is growing inside a warm greenhouse with high levels of light. - Millet (980-) |
