Laaz, when you post the picture of the Ponkan, put it next to a quarter or some other common item, to show the size of the fruit. Ponkans are supposed to be a larger variety of mandarin. My Dancy, Honey's, and Temples are starting to color. The satsuma, of course, are already pretty much fully colored. - Millet

Hi Millet. Well the deck is almost done, so I should have time this week to take some pics...

My Ponkan are mostly all orange now with only a bit of green on some of the fruit. They've been mature for a while now as I ate the first one about three weeks ago.

We haven't had a real frost yet, only several patchy ones. Tonight we're supposed to go to thirty though and tomorrow they're calling for 28 so I may pick the remaining fruit tomorrow. I'll be sorry to see it go as this is the first year they've set fruit and I've really been enjoying it.

.....Alan.

The Ponkan tree sure does grow in an up right manner, with very strong and full leaf structure. Every thing points up on the Ponkan tree. They are one of my favorite citrus trees, and fruit. Laaz, your tree looks very full and healthy. - Millet

Darn, I may have to relocate my ponkan graft on my satsuma. Thanks for the tip about its upright habit. I would have to place the graft in the north side. Right now it is in the west side, and indeed it's growth is shooting for the sky, I just thought this was an anomaly, and this would shade out my other grafts.

Ponkan's have one of the most upright growth habits of all my citrus. I tried one last week & it was still not quite ready. I'll have to test another this weekend.
