We compared our Page, Daisy and Satsuma fruits today. The Page was best, the Daisy second and satsuma last. The Page was tart a couple weeks ago, but now is sweet. Daisy was pretty good, just did not have the distinct flavor of Page, the satsuma was a little weak on the flavor in comparison--may be better in a few more weeks. Both Page and Daisy have tight peels. _________________ Skeet

I agree that a properly ripened Page is the best citrus I've ever tasted.
I've never tried a Daisy. Satsumas should be starting to come into their own about now.

I'm going to have to get some budwood of the Page next spring. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

David,
Page is very good! That is the great thing about citrus, there are so many different tastes that it is hard to pin down which is best.

I had another Daisy today--it has a nice tangerine taste. The Page I had earlier came from my lemon tree. I have transferred a Page bark graft to my Ponkan, so it may be even better when I get one from there. I still have several varieties that have not yet produced fruit, but maybe next year I can expand from 11 varieties of fruit to over 20. _________________ Skeet

page is one of my favorites. I t- budded a bunch of page last spring to a large citrumelo and some poncirus rootstock. I hope it does well. It was a vigorous grower over the summer. |

I am not sure if I am remembering correctly, but it seems that the Page fruits I remember buying in LA had loose peels--like a satsuma. But the ones I am getting off of my lemon tree have a tight peel--not really that difficult to peel, but certainly not like a satsuma. What is you page like? _________________ Skeet

That is the way these are Ned-- I think some roadside markets may be selling satsumas for more popular Page fruit--these are definitely better than satsumas. _________________ Skeet

I like Page, Ponkan, Juanita (very much like Ponkan) and Ambersweet. A good satsuma off of and old. estabished tree can be good too.
About the best satsuma I have had was off of a variegated tree Lazz gave me. I have had the plant in a pot for a couple of years, but it goes in the ground next spring. I would never have guessed the fruit would be so tasty. It also seems to hold on the tree better than my other satsumas too. Thanks Lazz!
