Dear all,
My collection of citrusplants contains: Orange, Grapefruit, Manderine...They are all true from seed, bought in the super market. I still want a key lime, but there are never seeds in the limes????Any help?
Thanks in advance |

Those might be Bearss limes mislabeled as Key limes. |

Key limes are smaller than a golf ball, the limes that are almost as big as lemons are persian or Bearss limes and do not have seeds. I have been getting mine at Walmart in 2# bags.
What state do you live in? If you are in FL, I can send you some of the seeds.

Well Skeeter,
that is really very kind! But I live in Amsterdam (the Netherlands)....I am of course willing to pay, if you still want to send them ( i understand if you don't!)I will try to buy at different supermarket. Often the label on the lime states they are from Mexico or Brazil....
Thanks for your answers! |

I will gladly send them if it is not aginst the law-- right now all citrus from Florida is under a kind of quarentine due to the presence of citrus canker. They can only ship fruit to non-citrus states and they are not allowed to ship any plants out of state.
However, I assume that the Netherlands does not have any commercial citrus and may not have any restrictions, but if you can dertermine that for sure I will send you some key lime seeds.

Thanks to Laaz and Millet and their advise, I now have buds on my Key Lime. Seed grown from about 3 years ago, maybe 4. Thanks guys ... I can almost hear the margarita blender!

Barrie tree looks great. I haven't been outside yet this morning but we had a very cold snap here and went down to 25 F last night. Will have to check on my inground Key lime & see how it did. |

I had to move this key lime indoors for a few days in late November. We had record cold and temps dipped to 19.5f one night. Glad that's behind us now. 25f is pretty chilly for key lime. I hope it's fine.
Cheers, Barrie. |
