I found this jelly like sap coming out of my peaches on about 6 of my baby peaches. The jelly is clear and has only really appeared on the peaches closest to the ground, here are some pics.

I am stumped and there is no infestation on the leaves, they are perfectly normal right now(knock on wood).

Could be due to physical injuries from insect bites. Sometimes in strong winds, they got banged unto some twigs or hard surface and have physical injuries. Snails are also known to nibble them and produce such ooze afterwards. So it is most likely not disease related.

Thanks Joe, it might have been from the wind knocking them around and into a pail I forgot I left by the peach. We have also been having drought like weather so could that have made this happen too?

ValenciaGuy, and RamonTJ,
I have this problem too. We spray BT on our Peaches, I think. It stops the problem (Unless you miss a spot) Ill have to ask. I am pretty sure that the problem is worms, not Injuries. That is the sugar and sap trying to heal itself from a worm. (Worm Holes???) But when there are other bites from animals, this doesn't happen. Smile Still edible as far as I am concerned-

Taylor

do you know what type of worm , I remember years back heaving to take down 3 trees never could get them under control,, all the porduction would go to " waste" I used to cut the good part and eat it. now I have some new trees growing I want to experiment with grafting them maybe next year or this year. I hope when they produce fruit I wont have the same problem, this time I think it will be easier to manage

I think Taylor is right. In case you are not familiar with BT-- that is short for Bacillus Thuringiensis-- a bacteria that will kill the larvae of all lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) but is harmless to humans. It gives the worms a really bad case of diarrhea. It is a good safe pesticide, but you have to re-apply after rains.

I think it was just what joe said it was, physical injury. I had a watering bucket underneath the tree and it was windy the couple of days when i noticed the damage. the peaches are fine now and i actually just picked my first two peaches here are some pics

I have a pech tree raised from seed I am hoping to graft it some time in the future, this year it got just one flower and one fruit as aresult I decided lo let the fruit mature and it was very, very good don't really now what kind of peah it is(the name) we had two kinds of trees in the yard that bare very good fruit one gave a White peach , very aromatic large and juicy, and the other one yellow both very tasty to my soprise this trees only fruit it was yellow as tasty as I remember, that particular tree died many many years ago don't know how the seed was hable to germinate afther all this years, anyway to my question , when is a good time to spray with BT, the only fruit on this tree had a worm in it.?? I hope I can find the BT somewhere across the border in San Diego

If your tree only had one peach, and it is now gone, and therefore there is no fruit on the tree, I would not bother to spray with BT. You will be wasting you money. - Millet

Hi Ramon, BT is sold under a variety of trade names-- the one I purchased years ago was called Dipel. I think there is another called thuricide or something like that. Taylor may know more about when to apply to peaches, but basically it would have to be before the worms would start and it would need to be reapplied after any rains.
