Tried first OroBlanco of the season...and though it is a bit early yet...it was SUPER SWEET already...Usually I don't pick ' em till March, but they are getting ready early this season...Anyone else got some taste results ?
I also had a sweet Washington Navel today !! _________________ Citrus & Cherimoya Addict |

Oh Yum, Ez, I heard about your oro blancos. Is it possible to get a couple budsticks from you since my P Tri & F dragon will be ready to graft on this spring? I heard all good things about your oroblanco! _________________ Patty

I also have ripe Oroblanco on the tree's first crop. I like some sourness in grapefruits, so I'm not sure how sweet it should become or if it needs more time... |

I agree...this hybrid tastes good from NOV through MAR...early there is a nice sweet/tart taste...then SUPER SWEET in end......Too bad (sure) that I had to pick it all last week (freeze), and now eat about 3-4 per day !! _________________ Citrus & Cherimoya Addict |

EZ:
I also eat 3 to 4 a day the one you gave me but it did not last a whole day. I did not even let anyone taste it.
Yum!
And Joe, the cal wine is super good also.

First I will say that my Oro blanco is still quite young and has only 2 golf ball size fruit on it. So, much to my surprise, I found a supermarket that had Oro Blancos in their flyer! I had to go buy a few!. They are sold as SWEETIE CITRUS. I have never tried one, so i was quite surprised that they tasted pretty much a regular grapefruit. I expected something a little sweeter - more like a pomello. It was still good. I am thinking they were picked a bit early. they were also quite expensive $1.50 CDN $$ ($ 1.25 US) each where regular pink grapefruit i paid $1.99 Cdn ($1.80US) for a 5 lb bag. They were worth trying andI look forward to more as my tree matures.
