Hello.
I have a citrus collection (lemons, oranges, mandarins, limes, citrons, calamondin etc.) and I think that it is time to move them because they overgrown my living space. For several years I tried to keep them in control by pruning them but now they got too large.
So I found a mansard room to rent. It is perfect for exotics. Lots of light and a good air circulation. Plus it is very well insulated.
The problem is that the owner doesn't have electricity there so I can't heat it. I am thinking to heat it in a different way (gas, wood) but it is kind of risky to let it unattended.

The temperature in the rooms were I keep my citrus varies from 62F(17C) to 75F(24C). But 90% of the time is 70F(20C).
The temperature in the room I want to move them varies from 40F(5C) to 60F(15C) or more. These days is around 50F 70% of the time.

The temperatures are going to rise from now on. In a couple of weeks we will have nicer weather, I hope, now that spring is here.

What will happen if I would move them there right now? They will loose their leaves or regress into dormancy?
In that room they are safe from winds and cold rain.

Now they are having a new flush of growth and some of them are flowering.

I don't have much experience with indoor container citrus--my key limes are mostly outside, only indoors when it is cold, but as long as they do not get freezing temps or sun exposure while cold, I do not see a problem.

And if/when that time comes, wood esp. will dry out the air. You'll need to offset with humidifiers or something. good luck! Others should be able to offer guidance when the time comes.
