I have 2 satsuma trees on Flying Dragon. They were gave to me by Dr. Julian Sauls (Texas A&M), citrus specialist, in the spring of 1985. They show no sign of benching and have been quite productive for many years. They make a more manageable tree to take care of. For a yard tree The
FD produces a nice tree. |

Laaz,
Got your FD fruits. I carefully removed the seeds wearing plastic gloves. The juice is highly aromatic and acidic. I know the fruit/juice not generally consumed but I found the aroma interesting from a fragrance ingredient point of view. Perfumers would have fun with the peel oil if it was commercially available.
Anyhow, seeds were rinsed thoroughly and planted. For my needs, I need the FD dwarfing characteristics. Hopefully they won't take too long to sprout. Probably will take 2 yrs before I can use them as rootstocks.

Thanks for the update Nicky. They are nasty if you ask me, but make great rootstock. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Lazz is right they are more that nasty tasting but, in my opinion the best understock to have. I have 2 satsuma trees that date back to 1985. There is one nursery in South Louisiana that is pulling trees out on Swingle and replanting with trees grafted on Flying. As the trees on flying dragon get larger every other one will be pulled out. |
