Thanks Todd, I guess you can see in the picture that the trees are planted on raised beds for drainage. My farm land is flat as a pancake, so raised beds was a must. Either that or I would have been the proud owner of a drowned citrus grove the first time we had a 4 inch cloud burst! As Bob Barkers friend used to say: " Todd, COME ON DOWN! The price is right! Hey, theres a 32 acre farm for sale just down the road from me.. If you are tired of the rat race... plunk down a little money and plant a citrus grove on your own mini plantation! _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

The trees look good Stan. I think you did right putting them on a ridge.
You don't have a closeup, but I think I see something that might cause problems. If the sprinkler heads are as far above the canopy as they appear, and you use them for frost protection, won't they cause problems with ice buildup on the limbs and leaves? Maybe I just can't the the micosprinklers that will provide frost protection. I know Carl has two sets of sprinklers, one for irrigation, and one under the canopy for frost protection.
Lazz maybe we need to go up there together and he has it right! LOL

I couldnt resist letting a few of the trees set fruit. This is a murcott with about a dozen or so fruits this year.

Hey Patrick, Thanks for the compliment. I'm giving this grove 100% effort and so far so good. I have one pink grapefruit in the grove... a graft from the one that is growing in Columbia SC. We have named it the Croxton grapefruit in honor of its owner.. I have a nagami kumquat, a taiwanica lemon, a murcott, a ponkan, a robinson and the rest are various satsumas including, Browns Select, LA Early, Owari, Aoshima, Miyagawa and kimbrough. All in all there are aprox 135 trees in the grove. As the folks at BP say about new sources of energy.. ITS A START! _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

Stan, last year when I came to SC to ketch the Stan McKenzie Citrus Express bus to the 2006 Citrus Expo, I missed seeing Carl's grove due to an extended flight delay at O'hare airport in Chicago. This year I will be attending the 2007 Citrus Expo in Akin. Hopefully, I will be able to extend my trip a day or so to enable me to visit both Carl's and your citrus groves. BTW please put me down for TWO (2) box lunches, as my wife will probably come with me. - Millet |

Bob, you will be most welcome to come and visit when you fly in for the Expo. I will give you the "GRANDE" tour of the area citrus trees. BTW Congratulations on being the 1st person to pre register for the lunch that day! _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

Stan, Its looking good! I am so close but so far away from the citrus expo which I would dearly like to attend. I will be in Ft Lauderdale that weekend returning from a cruise with the family. I couldn't talk my wife into letting me loose for the day Oh well, gotta keep peace in the family. Right! Instead I will be spending my money in Florida. Maybe next year

Millet, When your in-laws "help out" with the trip (and you are traveling with them) it is a very good time to keep the peace _________________ Gregn, citrus enthusiast. North Vancouver Canada. USDA zone 8. I grow In-ground citrus, Palms and bananas. Also have container citrus |
